This document outlines the contents and structure of a general ecology course comprised of 5 modules. The modules progress from foundational ecological concepts and ecosystems to more applied topics of environmentally sustainable societies and environmental problems. Module 1 covers population and community ecology through guided questions and a laboratory activity. Module 2 examines terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem development and includes a critique paper. Later modules focus on creating a sustainable society through economics and reducing ecological footprints. Assessment tests are included before and after each module to evaluate comprehension. Hands-on laboratory activities are integrated throughout to demonstrate key principles.
