What are the similarities among the four models of communication? What are the differences?

Among the four models, which model accurately reflects the communication process in the real
world? Can you cite a specific situation or personal experience? (Write your answers in not more
than two paragraphs.)

The differences among the four models are their model and principles on how to communicate or the
process. The Aristotle’s linear model has five basic elements in communication, which are the speaker,
speech, occasion, audience, and the effect. According to Aristotle the speaker plays an important role in
communication. The Shannon and Weaver Model of communication is also known as the “Mother of all
models”. It has six key concepts, the sender, encoder, channel, noise, decoder and receiver, in this model
the communication between the sender and the receiver is through a technological channel like telephone.
The Osgood Schramm or the interactive model of communication defines that communication has a
circular model and shows the messages in two direction. This model has four principles, the four key
principles: communication is circular and not linear, the second one is communication is usually equal
and reciprocal, the third one is messages require interpretation and the last one is There are three steps for
communicating the encoding, decoding and interpreting. Transactional model, in this model contains the
communicator’s field experience.
