1.0 SCOPE:
1.1 This document details the technical requirements of Cable Switch Board that are
necessary to meet the operational needs ofBSNIlM1NL.
1.2 Reference documents: The standard references required for the GR at Appendix-I.
~-:
2.0 APPUCATION AND PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: '~'>

2.1 The cable switch board is being used in the internal locations of variOUs. telephone
exchanges for internal wiring i.e., bay to bay wiring, equipment to MDF, etc. This is
also used in subscriber offices in large buildings having more than ten telephone
connections.
2.2 The conductors are tinned copper, single/multi wire cable PVC or any other suitable
insulating material and PVC sheathed.
3.0 CONDUCTOR:
3.1 The conductor shall consist of a solid wire of annealed high conductivity copper,
smoothly drawn. approximately circular in secti<;m, unifonn in quality. The copper
shall conform to IS: 8130. The conductors shall be unifOlmly coated with tin and shall
meet the requirern~ of clause 12.2. '
3.2 Joints in the conductor shall be kept to a minimum and fulfil the following conditions.
3.2.1 The tensile strength of a 25 cm length of conductor containing ajoint shall be not less
than 90% ofthat of an adjacent sample of conductor of same-length not containing a
joint.
3.2.2 The electrical resistance of a 25 cm length of conductor containing a joint shall be not
greater than 105% of that of an adjacent sample of conductor of same length not
containing a joint.
3.3 The diameter and the resistance ofthe conductor shall be 'as. shown in Table-I.
4.0 CONDUCTOR INSULATION:

4.4.3.2 Instead of spiraled marking, alternate type of colouring may consist of concentri<
coloured rings or dots or dashes on a base colour. The· dots or dashes should
applied on diametrically opposite sides ofthe wires so that all colours are visible when
the wire is viewed from any side.
4.4.3.3 The coloured marking shall have a width of 1.0 mm minimum and 4.0 mm maximum
