To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Deja Taggart, and I am pleased to be applying for the Registered Nurse RN New
Graduate Metro-Phoenix position. I am a recent graduate from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor
of Science in Family Studies and Human Development and will soon earn a Bachelor of Science in
Nursing with an emphasis in Integrative Health. I believe that my experience working at clinical sites
throughout the Phoenix-Metro area, clinical simulation labs, and the transition to practice program at
Banner University Medical Center have prepared me to fulfill the needs of this position.

In my school clinical experience, I enjoyed the variety and acuity level of care during my critical
care rotation in the Progressive Care units. I completed 60 clinical hours in the PCU at Banner Desert
Medical Center and 144 clinical hours at BUMC during my transition to practice program. I was given the
opportunity to float between the cardiac, neurology, and trauma PCUs and experienced a variety of
patient diagnoses and problems. During my rotations, I worked with patients from minimal to high
acuity, each requiring a different level of care that I adapted for treatment. At my transition to practice
program rotations, I took most-to-total care of 3 patients who were all alert and oriented to only their
names and became delirious overnight. Despite the difficulty of this shift, I effectively support my
patients with the help of the other nurses on the unit and with the use of my foundational knowledge
My Patient Care Advocate internship helped me learn how to connect with patients on a deeper and
more personal level.

I have been proven to be an organized nurse with outstanding critical thinking and problem-
solving skills who is efficient at multi-tasking and effective prioritization at my clinical sites and transition
to practice program. My nursing program emphasizes integrative health and holistic care for the self and
our patients. I have learned and utilized integrative therapies such as mindfulness, box breathing, and
guided imagery for my patients to help increase their comfort and quality of care in conjunction to
conventional therapies.

I am confident that I am an excellent candidate for the New Graduate PCU RN position at BUMC. With
my caliber for learning along with my ability to independently pick up new skills, I will make an
exceptional PCU nurse. Thank you for taking the time to read my application. I am eager to speak with
you more about this opportunity. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at 602-653-9294.

Sincerely,

Deja Taggart
