All conductors should be left grounded when not on test, during the

Upon completion of a DC High Voltage Test on cables, the applied


voltage shall be reduced to zero and the DC set turned off. A ground

Low voltage (600, 450/750, or 600/1000 V rated) cables, including

installation and prior to placing in service (during commissioning).

Perform Megger test on each cable with respect to ground and adjacent
cables. For cables 250 volt and less use 500 volt megger; for cables 250 SAES-P-104

volt to 600 volt use 1000 volt megger; for cables above 600 volt and less Sec. 4.1
than 1200 volt use 2500 volt megger.

Perform resistance measurements through all bolted connections with

D7 low-resistance ohmmeter.

D8 Perform continuity test to insure proper cable connection.

Perform DC high potential test on critical cables after installation. Test


each cable with respect to ground and adjacent cables. Test values shall SAES-P-104

be reviewed with proponent. The DC test voltage shall not exceed 1.4 x Sec. 4.1
(2 x rated voltage+1000).
