Emergency Department
Preceptor: John Smith, CRNP
 This clinical practicum included management of a variety medical and surgical of patients across the
lifespan seeking emergency care. Clinical decision making and implementation of interventions were
completed with guidance from the clinical preceptor. This practicum included supervised clinical
skills including suturing, arterial and central venous line placement, and intubation.

Medical Intensive Care Unit
Preceptor: Alice Jones, MD
 This clinical practicum included the supervised management of critically ill patients with a variety of
medical problems including congestive heart failure, pneumonia, sepsis, COVID-19, malignancy-
related complications, drug overdose, and decompensated liver disease, among others. Supervised
clinical skills included arterial and central venous line placement, intubation, extubation, and bedside
ultrasound. Complex clinical decision making was completed with the guidance of a clinical
preceptor and included extensive interdisciplinary cooperation and communication with patients’
families.

Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit

 This clinical practicum included the supervised management of critically ill patients with a variety of
neurological conditions including seizure, various infections of the central nervous system, Guillain-
Barre Syndrome, and hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke with and without endovascular intervention.
Supervised clinical skills included placement of various hemodynamic monitoring devices,
intubation, extubation, bedside ultrasound, and brain death testing. Complex clinical decision making
was completed with the guidance of a clinical preceptor and included extensive interdisciplinary
cooperation with a team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, and critical care medicine physicians.
