Visuality refers to how we see or perceive things. A picture indeed paints a thousand words,
and the theme unfolds this concept to us in a visually appealing and creative manner. It puts
forwards the idea of pictorial representation to communicate our story to the audience. This
art is greatly discussed in history and many theorists have claimed that our personality is a
reflection of how we visualize and interpret things. The details of our retinal experiences
affect our behavior and emotions. This concept has been used to present the photo-story.
The photo story captures the twist and turns of my life after leaving my hometown to join the
offline classes. It is a blend of emotions and experiences of mine.
The first slide reveals the sharp contrast between the mouth-watering delicacies which I
enjoyed back in my hometown and the empty refrigerator at my hostel. The pictures also
disclose a hidden meaning, that we understand the worth of things only after we lose them.
The second slide unfolds the burden of responsibilities in hostel life. At home, I barely
cleaned or arranged my wardrobe, but life has taught me to be well organized and composed.
I have learned to manage things on my own, from washing my clothes to ironing them, to
changing bedsheets and filling up water bottles or washing the dishes sometimes. The slide
depicts stepping out of my comfort zone to run in the race of life.
The following slide portrays the change in the morning routine. The 9’am ritual of sleeping
after attendance has changed to waking up early to get ready for college. It is with a great
struggle that I have changed my habit. Hostel life makes us more responsible and sensible. It
gives us the true picture of life, from becoming financially responsible to decision making,
hostel life gives it all.
Certain things have changed after coming to this big city, but my unconditional love for dogs
remains unchanged. The fourth slide describes my love for them. Whenever I miss my furry
friends “Cherry and Love”, I Step out of my hostel to meet the new ones. They are hungry for
love and understand me better than some of my friends. I feel less new to this city when I am
with them.
The fifth and the last slide depicts the distance between me and my family. A few days after
arriving to Bangalore, I was homesick. I didn’t want to go out or make any new friends. It
was only through the video calls that I could see them. It is not easy to stay apart but life is all
about struggles and I hope that I will get to see them soon.
The central theme of the photo story revolves around the change in the life of a student after
shifting from the hometown. The story has a personal and emotional touch which allows us to
visualize the hit of responsibilities and sentiments after leaving the home to accomplish our
dreams. The photo story represents the challenges faced to accommodate in a new space. It
allows the reader to visualize the hardships and struggle to leave your home and comfort zone
to pursue your career. It can help high school students to understand the change in life that
they might go through in a later stage of their career.

I have chosen Tourism Sector as it is on the verge of a boom in India. I belong to Varanasi
Uttar Pradesh, which is one of the oldest civilizations in human history. It is one of the sacred
places which attracts a lot of tourists from worldwide. The pious city is full of temples and
Ghats. Some of the prominent temples include the Kashi Vishwanath temple and Kaal
Bhairav Temple.
The city is situated on the bank of the holy river Ganges. It is one of the most famous tourist
destinations among Hindus as they believe that one who dies here, attains salvation and
breaks the vicious cycle of rebirth.
The Manikarnika Ghat or the burning Ghat is where the dead bodies are cremated. The rituals
and traditions of the funeral are done by a certain community of people, and you will get to
see a small group of Aghori Baba’s, who use ashes and bones of the dead body for spiritual
purposes.
Famous tourist places include Sarnath, which is a place where Gautam Budhha first taught
the lessons of Dharma. Other tourist attractions include Assi Ghat, Dashaswamedh Ghat, and
Ramnagar Fort.
The poster includes photos clicked by me and my friends, which presents the scenic and
cultural beauty of Kashi. The poster has a blueish gradient which puts a spiritual effect on it.
The color palette is uniquely chosen as it induces a cooling impact on the mind of viewers.
Also, the cloudy background indicates the refreshing vibe on the ghats of Benaras.
Jalebi is a famous street food of Benaras. It is served with milk in breakfast. Thus, it is
strategically included in the poster to activate the taste buds of the viewers.
The poster is more visually appealing as it includes a logo for the brand. It is identified that a
logo captures the mind more than a text and allows viewers to recognise the brand easily. The
logo is appropriate for the tourism business or firm.
Also, the photos included in the poster are of open spaces, which look more attractive and
interesting. It is apt for people looking for a sacred and spiritual tourist destination. The
poster includes a nominal price which is affordable for any tourist willing to explore the
streets of Varanasi. It includes a Call To Action based text, which compel viewers to go for
the package. The poster can be used for a tour and travel company, with some minor changes
and can be used to advertise the packages to visit the city.
