bad even newly installed. This includes hollow back
that results to cracks and holes, also poor calculation on
installation that creates lippages and grinding marks
which is the result of removing lippages making the
stone looks uneven.

SHINE
The loss of the shine and polish on certain marble, granite
and most natural stones can be attributed to wear and
tear. This is especially true of marble and the likes, since
it is much softer than granite. The bottoms every shoe
acts like sandpaper on a stone floor surface and over time
will wear the polish off.

The dull white spot created when liquids containing
acids are spilled on marble.

STAINING
Almost all natural stone can become stained. Most
foods, drinks, ink, oil and rust will stain marble. Once
a natural stone becomes stained, it can be very difficult
to remove.

EFFLORESCENCE
Appears as a white powdery residue on the surface of
the stone. It is a common condition on new stone
installations or when the stone is exposed to a large
quantity of water, such as flooding. This powder is a
mineral salt from the setting bed. The stone will
continue to effloresce until it is completely dry. This
drying process can take several days to as long as one
year

SPALLING, FLAKING AND PITTING

This is when stone develops small pits or small
pieces of stone that usually pops off the surface. This
is coomon on stone exposed to large amounts of
water.

Is due to embedded dirt and grime can give the stone a
yellow, dingy look. Another reason is waxes and other
coatings can yellow with age. This is usually caused by
oxidation of iron within the stone and especially problematic
with white marbles.

Is the term given to tiles that are set unevenly. In other
words the edge of one tile is higher than the next.
Lippage is the result of as poor installation.

MARKS
Appear as white marks on the surface of the natural
stone and are common in some types of marble and
natural stones. These stuns are the result of tiny
explosions inside the crystal of the stone.

materials such as iron, calcium, magnesium and others.
These minerals are left behind when the water

WHAT IS CRYSTALLIZATION?

Marble Crystallization is a method of polishing the stone, which in effect improve its surface aspect physically and aesthetically. The method
of Marble Crystallization is consists of causing a chemical reaction on the surface, using a rotary movement machine wherein when polished
creates an outstanding look and effect.

The company started out with only two employees: Torrefiel

and his son Erwin who was in colleges at that time. To get
the business up and running, their capital was a loan from
Erwin’s uncle; and their equipment was borrowed. Initially
the service catered to homeowners who had stone surfaces
cleaned, and the family slowly paid back their loan with
profit from their work. But that business model changed when
Erwin, now in his mid-30s took over the business in 1998.
”There’s no model, no their business like it,” shares Erwin.
“When I took over, I walked from one end of Roxas
