MORAGA ~~Demotion Dinner - 2022~~

the bell at 6:45 PM after cocktails to
begin our 54th Annual Demotion Dinner of
NEWSLETTER Moraga Rotary Club. Rich welcomed
everyone and highlighted we’re missing
members who wanted to be here Herb

Barb Bruner, Debbie & Lou Roessler,
and spouse Clyde Wilson for various
Next Meeting: reasons, including illness and Covid-19
exposures. We missed them all.
Tuesday, July 5, Noon at
Hubert Ma gave the Thought For The
La Finestra Restaurante Day, based upon the war in the news and
the constant need to strive for peace. He
then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tradition holds that the President
Town Hall Theatre Nominee gives a toast to the outgoing
President, so Rich stepped in for
Greeter & Invocator: Jennifer Brophy, thanking Brian South
for 2 great years as our club’s president.

With that, the dinner bell was rung and

Next, Brian South was invited to a chair
of prominence in front, and Rich
presented:

“Brian South, This is Your Life!”

After 2 years of service, the club wanted

But we had to settle for another gavel outstanding dedication and service to the
plaque instead. Moraga Rotary Club, voted by the
membership, that went to Rich Render.

for 2 great years of leadership of the
Moraga Rotary Club.

Brian gave a great summary of the


accomplishments of the club both
domestically and with our international
projects. He showed pictures of the
Houston International Convention that he
attended earlier this year, and the
international friends he met.

The traditional final closing act of a


Demotion Party was to call Brian back to
the podium and ring the bell, closing out
his year. It was a great party with great
food and a wonderful bar. Thanks to
Ron Mucovich, Tony Schoemehl, Gary
Irwin and Frank May who helped set up
and tear down.
They hope to trade off running the weekly
meetings, based upon work and
newsletter schedules. To replace the
queen’s tiara, they both wore Ukrainian Future greeter/invocators:
