I am the Media Specialist at Harlan Elementary; I work with all grades K-5 and collaborate with all staff. I
have served on many leadership teams, curriculum committees and professional cohorts in my 20 years of
teaching. During this time, I have never encountered a student teacher with more enthusiasm and passion
than Miss Spencer Price.

Miss Price was a student of mine in both first and second grade in Warren Consolidated Schools. Early on
she indicated she wanted to be a teacher when she grew up. As she moved through her school career she
kept in touch with me, often coming back to volunteer in a myriad of ways. Spencer helped tutor students in
grades K-5, she helped run book fairs and other community events for Black, and continued to reach out for
assistance in pursuing an education career.

Spencer has been eager to learn new teaching strategies and has expressed interest in observing my classes,
even while on her own vacation. She visited several K-2 Library classes and took notes on her observations.
We discussed how she might use these strategies in her own classroom and when offered training in Love
and Logic, she eagerly accepted. She has been working on this training on her own time, as she finds it
extremely important to find ways to run her classroom in a positive, engaging and empathetic way.

Spencer is very quick in handling any new situation. She is flexible and able to think quickly and make
good, rational decisions. She has a very positive, natural way with students and exhibits patience with each
student and their individual needs. She has built great rapport with staff and is eager to share her ideas as
well as learn from others. She understands the importance of team work and how it benefits the students.

I have been a classroom teacher and a Media Specialist for over 20 years. I have worked with and
witnessed many student/substitute teachers in that time. I highly recommend Spencer Price be hired for any
position she is qualified for. Any school district would benefit from Spencer being a part of their team.
