book does a incredible job at creating dynamic and memorable side-characters (as well as main

the morally grey characters are true to the grey area, and good versus evil is not clear cut. Due to the

Plot/Summary
PPT: Wei Wuxian, the founder of Demonic Cultivation, is hated by the world due to the chaos he caused.
His chaotic ways lead to a terrible death at the hands of the most powerful Cultivation clans/sects. Just
over a decade later, Wei WuXian is back, but this time he is in the body of a well known ‘lunatic’ who was
abandoned by his Sect. Somehow he ends up by the side of Lan WangJi – the man he considers his
enemy – and the two must investigate a series of murders and mysteries that all seemingly lead back to
the YiLing Patriach, Wei WuXian, himself. As the two try to unravel this mystery, emotions rise and Wie
WuXian realises there may be more beneath Lan WangJi’s cold exterior.
PPT: The principal storyline begins thirteen years after the death of Wei Wuxian, the Yiling Patriarch
(as he is summoned back to life by Mo Xuanyu through a self-sacrificial ritual. Wei Wuxian is reborn
and awakens in the body of a homosexual lunatic, while fully cognizant of his own identity. He finds
himself in Mo Village, where he is to fulfill the ritual's condition—to take revenge on Mo Xuanyu's
behalf and exterminate the Mo family for abusing him—or else Wei Wuxian's own soul will be forever
annihilated.

Meaning to say, He is freed from this condition when a vicious entity appears and goes on a murder
spree that kills every one of Mo Xuanyu's abusers. While exploring the new world he finds himself in,
he stumbles into people from his past and ends up accompanying Lan Wangji, his former classmate
and a highly esteemed cultivator. The two become embroiled in the mystery of the evil entity, which
left in its path a series of clues all seemingly leading back to Wei Wuxian's past. As they travel to
unravel the case, Wei Wuxian re-lives previously encountered struggles and trials, and attempts to
deal with the hatred of the cultivation world once more, along with the changes in his relationship
with Lan Wangji.

While the main narrative covers the present timeline, it is intermingled with intermittent flashbacks
recounting Wei Wuxian's previous life, from his glory days as a promising young cultivator until his
death as the reviled Yiling Patriarch.

PPT: As the 15-year-old senior disciple of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan, Wei Wuxian was a highly
charismatic, willful, intelligent young man possessing a strong cultivation base and exceptional skills.
He had a close relationship with his clan siblings, Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng. While in Cloud
Recesses, he met the stern and aloof Lan Wangji, one of the Twin Jades of the Gusu Lan Clan. The
two would maintain an ambiguous relationship throughout their years of acquaintance prior to Wei
Wuxian's death.
PPT: At a crucial point in the story, Wei Wuxian invented the Ghost Path (also known as guǐ dào) of
cultivation which, unlike other paths, functions by harvesting and manipulating the resentful energy
emitted by fierce ghosts and corpses. With this use of unorthodox methods to overthrow the Qishan
Wen Clan during the Sunshot Campaign, the cultivation world hailed Wei Wuxian as a war hero for
his significant efforts and contributions that led to their victory.

The overarching story is a romantic arc that deals with the development of the novel's central love story
between Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. Focalized through Wei Wuxian's limited point of view, it tells of their
carefree, flirtatious days as teens—with the irreverent, mischievous Wei Wuxian juxtaposed against the
somber, stickler-for-rules Lan Wangji; of the tentative bond they developed as young adults navigating the
contentious issue of Wei Wuxian's cultivation path and the conflicts and struggles they're confronted with;
and of their reunion thirteen years later when their dynamic swiftly turns into an emotionally intense mixture
of extreme dedication, and overwhelming mutual romantic and sexual desire. It is eventually revealed that
Lan Wangji had been secretly yearning for Wei Wuxian the whole time they'd known each other, and that
his love and devotion never faltered in all the years the latter had been dead. The 'Wangxian' ( 忘 羡 )
storyline tells of the deep, valid connection between two men who see past surface distractions to recognize
the similarities in the way they live their lives, the values they uphold, their sense of purpose, strength, and
self-worth, and of the rich potential for profound happiness that may result from such. As well, it notably
displays the power of sexual chemistry and compatibility reinforced by romantic love, freely given and
openly acknowledged between an unexpected couple.

Conflict
PPT: Wei Wuxian invented the Ghost Path (鬼道, guǐ dào) of cultivation which, unlike other paths, functions
by harvesting and manipulating the resentful energy emitted by fierce ghosts and corpses.

With this use of unorthodox methods to overthrow the Qishan Wen Clan during the Sunshot Campaign, the
cultivation world hailed Wei Wuxian as a war hero for his significant efforts and contributions that led to their
victory.
PPT: However, the fickle nature of society soon reared its head as the clans began to perceive him as a
dangerous threat—someone willful and powerful enough to break out from the confines of society's rules, or
someone who suffered from moral decay due to walking down the crooked path—while they coveted his
powerful inventions all the same.

Tensions escalated as Wei Wuxian kept up his objections to the Lanling Jin Clan's inhumane treatment of
prisoners of war.

PPT: Trapped between incompatible duties, he took it upon himself to rescue the Wen refugees and
become their sole protector at the Burial Mounds in Yiling, willingly taking on people's anger and distrust
with unshakeable conviction.

He thus gained the title of Yiling Patriarch and was vilified as a traitor to the Jiangs and declared an "enemy
of the cultivation world." Rumors and conspiracies arose, leading to more deaths and devastation, and with
the fallout of morals and priorities colliding, it all came to a head at the First Siege of the Burial Mounds by
the Four Great Clans, during which Wei Wuxian and the people he was protecting met their inglorious and
bloody demise, and the world rejoiced.

Next reporter please,

SEN

Good afternoon, Sir Jaydee and everyone, I am Jansen Umandap and I’ll discuss the Voice of the Piece
and the Representation in the Current Situation.

Voice of the piece:

 BL Novel so there is a lot of angst and tension that drives the plot

But this does not take away from the complex and astounding story that already runs through this
book. Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s writing style in all of his novels was easy to read,

 It is simple and direct but doesn’t shy away from beautiful metaphors and rich descriptions.

it is surprisingly easy to get through this book, na once you read it you’ll get hooked up easily,
because the writing is simple but incredibly engaging.

 Story is told from one characters perspective and starts in the present time where Wei WuXian has
come back, but there are long flashbacks that allow you to see the events that led to some certain
situations

This worked incredibly well and allowed the story to maintain a consistent and decent pace –

 It allowed us to see how all of the character relationships were formed and how they changed too
and we got to know every character very well.

And we’ve heard the summary, of Mo Dao Zu Shi and it’s conflict , but let me share some of the key points
that we’ve noticed aside from the novel was very engaging on the next slide.

PPT: The novel features high fantasy elements.

The cultivators develop their supernatural abilities, and magical entities such as ghosts, demons and
beasts make frequent appearances throughout. If you’ve take time to read and research about Mo Dao
Zu Shi, you’ll find out that…

PPT: The stories take place in a setting that resembles ancient China, with the architecture,
inventions and clothing being carbon copies of what would be seen in a historical Chinese
setting.

As it shows on your screen,

The main exception, of course, is all the magical components that accompany them.

While many xianxia-themed (Xianxia – is a type of Chinese martial arts novel genre developed from the
wuxia genre that is heavily influenced by Daoism and Buddhism ) stories involve an action-packed
storyline full of adventure, combat and unfolding mysteries, some may also include a romance between
characters. Most important thing that we’ve noticed is that…

PPT: The novel highlights the budding relationship between two male leads.

It showcase the deep bond between Yiling Patriarch- Wei Wuxian and noble Lan Wangji nicely. So it
censors the romantic relationship they have. Instead of showcasing them as lovers, the drama series
and book portrays them as close friends with an unbreakable bond. In other words, a “bromance.”

If you’re familiar with then book, the depiction of their relationship in the live-action series, (kasi meron
nga pong book and meron din produced on screen/drama series) it came as a slight disappointing as the
viewers noticed din. Given that Mò Xiāng Tóng Xiù intended for the two main protagonists to fall in love
after everything they went through together, the bromance looks somewhat out of place. Lan Wangji
breaks numerous sect rules for Wei Wuxian despite being a compliant and devoted disciple, he stands
by his side when the entire world is against him. So ang ginawa niya he expresses his adoration through
gifts, showcasing the amount of faith and affection he has for him. Not even Wei Wuxian’s brother stands
by him when he needs it the most.

So Next slide,

The book was Angst-Filled, and actually complex and dark.

PPT: Mo Dao Zu Shi is quite brilliant, but as I have stated earlier it is complex, angsty, and dark story
that is full of twists and turns – it constantly surprises you with its dark, supernatural storyline and
compelling villains.

We follow Wei WuXian as he and Lan WangJi try to uncover the identity of a dangerous murderer under
the guide of a mysterious person who has released a deeply resentful spirit. Simultaneously we follow
Wei WuXian in the past as he begins his journey to becoming the YiLing Patriarch, and the founder of
Demonic Cultivation, hated by all.

PPT: The entire plot is filled with deceptions, secrets and villains and is phenomenal from the fights and
battles to the personal growth. The risks throughout this story are high, there are casualties and
consequences which makes it a thrilling read where you actually fear for characters when in a life or
death situations.

Representation of the current situation:

PPT: Breaking Down Barriers For The LGBTQ+ Community In China

PPT: The novel highlights the budding relationship between two male leads. (slide 15)
When it comes to writing or airing LGBTQ+ themed works in China, censorship restrictions make it
difficult to fully publish without consequences. But the Mo Dao Zu Shi supports the LGBTQ+ by
producing a BL novels and taking it up a notch.

Although same-sex activity was legalized in 1997, media portrayals of same-sex relationships have yet
to be fully tolerated by China’s ambiguous laws.
Despite China’s media censorship of same-sex relationships, the author’s books — including ‘Mo Dao Zu
Shi,’ the basis of a widely watched series — remain wildly popular in the country.

The Chinese government asserts that it has the legal right to control the Internet's content within their
territory and that their censorship rules do not infringe on their citizens' right to free speech. Chinese
officials have access to uncensored information via an internal document system.

LGBT people were more likely to have a lower annual income, lack money for food or healthcare,
and be unemployed. They were also more likely to experience health problems, suffering from more
mental health because of how people treated them and substance abuse issues than their heterosexual
peers. As I have stated earlier “Not even Wei Wuxian’s brother stands by him when he needs it the
most.” So sa madaling salita, family member na yun pero hindi pa rin siya nasuportahan

PPT: LGBT protection against any other form of discrimination, is being discussed in the Philippines,
with the goal of promoting an honest understanding of what these people face in terms of work,
marriage, adoption and health care.

Hate crimes, particularly against transgender people, are still a large problem. Likewise, limited
employment for people who identify as LGBT remains a major issue. Many members of the LGBT
community in the Philippines feel that their physical and mental development has been affected through
discrimination wherever they go

PPT: LGBT members of the Philippines hope for a future with gay-friendly environment so that there can
be equal opportunity for all. Furthermore, they hope for more representation in politics, proper training for
police officers and an end to hate crimes toward their community.

Next slide

The fight against these issues must begin in the school systems and beyond. These LGBT groups are
growing up in fear and being rejected from society, and the emotional and mental toll must be stopped.
