The India Bring Your Buddy Scheme, Version 4.0 is released for use in TATA Consultancy Services
(TCS) with effect from 01 December 2011.

Introduction

In a competitive environment where talented profiles are required, there is a need for innovative
strategies to attract such profiles. As part of a comprehensive recruitment strategy, TCS encourages its
own employees to refer potential candidates for open requirements.

Applicability

This scheme is applicable to:

All employees of TCS India, including those who are currently on international deputation outside India
and continue to be on India payroll.

Note: Employees on long term deputation to Australia and China who fulfil the eligibility criteria as per the
policy and who refer candidates under the India BYB Scheme will get the referral reward through the
home country payroll at the end of the assignment once they report back to the home country.

This scheme is not applicable to:

 Employees in grade C5 and above or equivalent grades can refer but are not eligible for the
reward amounts defined under the scheme.

Note: The grade of referrer at the time of profile creation in Global Recruitment System (GRS) would be
taken in to consideration to determine eligibility of reward.

 Employees in Human Resource Function (for example, TAG, RMG and so on) can refer but are
not eligible for the reward amounts defined under the scheme.

 AIESEC Trainees and Project interns can refer but are not eligible for the reward amounts
defined under the scheme.

 Contract consultants, agency temporary workers, or other third party employees working with
TCS can refer but are not eligible for the reward amounts defined under the scheme.

Purpose

The purpose of the Bring Your Buddy (BYB) program is to reward employees for referring qualified
candidates who subsequently are hired. TCS provides the referring employee a cash bonus for each
successful referral made, in accordance with the provisions stated in this policy.

Provisions

1. Eligibility of candidate referred

Note: This BYB scheme is applicable for referrals made for Computer Consultancy Department only.
This is not applicable to referrals in the BPO positions.

 To qualify to be referred under the scheme, the candidate should have any of the following
qualification/s:

i. B.E./ B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech. / MSc. / MCA / MCM / MS.

ii. CA / ICWA / MBA

iii. Commerce / Humanities / Management

iv. PGDIT (2 years full time and Approved by AICTE)

v. B.Sc. / BCA / Diploma holders with 3.5 / 4 years of relevant functional / technical
experience

 The applicant should have minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Freshers are not eligible to
be referred under the scheme.

Note: Relevant experience is the professional experience that an applicant has acquired during their
employment history. This includes experience in the same career stream or function for which the
applicant has applied to TCS and the experience which is relevant to their future role in TCS. The
determination of relevant experience would be at the discretion of the Management Panel post review
during the selection process.

 The applicant should not have attended a TCS interview in the last 6 months.

 In case of referral of an Ex TCSer, a minimum of 6 months should have lapsed since the
applicant’s date of separation from TCS.

Note: In the event that the referred candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria mentioned above, but is
selected , the referrer will not be eligible for the reward. Receipt of the reward, is subject to the buddy
strictly meeting the eligibility criteria.

2. Referral reward

In case a published BYB position qualifies for a reward, the TCS employee is eligible for the following
on the basis of the Grade at which the buddy joins TCS.

Procedure

1. Referrer to create buddy's profile

 The TCS employee needs to refer the buddy through the following path:

Buddy profile

 Details of the buddy should be provided under ‘Create Buddy Profile’.

 Upon submission of the profile, an EPIR number is generated.

Note: In case of referral of ExTCSer, the referrer will have to connect with Branch TAG team to take the
referral process forward.

2. Ask buddy to confirm profile

 The buddy will receive an e-mail with credentials to log in to www.careers.tcs.com.

 The buddy needs to log in to www.careers.tcs.com (using the EPIR number and password mailed
to the buddy) and confirm the profile.

3. Ask buddy to upload resume

Post confirmation of profile, the buddy needs to fill the online application form and upload the resume.

Note: The above 3 steps are mandatory. The buddy will need to mandatorily carry the EPIR number to
enter the selection process through BYB scheme.

4. Reward Payment

TCS employee would receive the reward money under the scheme if the buddy has formally cleared
the selection process, accepted the assignment and spent a stipulated period in TCS.

 If the buddy is in grade C1 or C2, 100% of the reward payout will be as listed below:

i. If the buddy’s Date Of Joining (DOJ) is between 1st – 13th of a particular month, payment
will be made in the 4th subsequent month’s payroll from the DOJ of the buddy.

ii. If the buddy’s DOJ is within 14th – 30th of a particular month, payment will be made in the
5th subsequent month’s payroll from the DOJ of the buddy.

 If the buddy is in grade C3A and above, 60% of the reward payout would be provided as below:

i. Part 1 reward (60%)

 If the buddy’s DOJ is between 1st – 13th of a particular month, payment will be made in
the 4th subsequent month’s payroll from the DOJ of the buddy.

 If the buddy’s DOJ is between 14th – 30th of a particular month, payment will be made in
the 5th subsequent month’s payroll from the DOJ of the buddy.

ii. Part 2 reward (40%)

 If the buddy’s DOJ is between 1st – 13th of a particular month, payment will be made in
the 7th subsequent month’s payroll from the DOJ of the buddy.

 If the buddy’s DOJ is between 14th – 30th of a particular month, payment will be made in
the 8th subsequent month’s payroll from the DOJ of the buddy.

Note:

i. Upon completion of the stipulated period (90 or 180 days, as applicable) by the buddy, in case the
status of the buddy is ‘Resigned with pay / without pay’ employee will not be eligible to receive the
reward amount. However, employee’s status can be ‘Resigned with Pay’ at the time of reward payout.

ii. Upon completion of the stipulated period (90 or 180 days) by the buddy, in case employee status or
the status of the buddy is ‘Leave without pay / Salary Suspended’ employee will be eligible to
receive the reward amount only after the status turns to ‘Active Assignment’.

 The reward amount will be credited to the employee’s salary account on completion of the
stipulated service period of the buddy. It will reflect under the Miscellaneous Component of the
pay slip.

Note:

i. The reward amount would be subject to tax as applicable under the Indian Income Tax Act.

Terms and Conditions

1. Irrespective of when the buddy has been referred, the reward payable would be as per the
prevalent scheme at the time of joining.

2. For the positions published under the BYB scheme, employees can make unlimited referrals
across the country.

3. Reward will be charged to the S/won for which the candidate is being hired.

4. Not all positions published under BYB scheme may qualify for the reward payout. At a point of
time, the Talent Acquisition Head of India reserves the right to decide the positions that will / will
not qualify for the reward payout under the scheme.

5. Resumes already registered in the Global Recruitment System will not qualify to be eligible under
this scheme.

6. Buddy profiles created for Business Associates already working in TCS will not qualify for reward
under the scheme.

7. In order to receive the reward, your buddy must clear the background verification. Also in case
the payment is made and later the result turns out to be negative, the employee is required to
repay the referral reward amount to TCS

8. Effective 15th April 2012, in case, the buddy’s Background Check yields a negative result,

i. First Referral - Referrer will not be allowed to refer in the BYB scheme for a period of 6
months from the date the BGC result is updated on the system.

ii. Second Referral - Referrer will not be allowed to refer in the BYB scheme for further
period of 12 months from the date the BGC is updated on the system.

iii. Third Referral - Referrer access to refer buddies will be blocked permanently in system.
9. In case of referral of Ex TCSer buddy, a minimum of 6 months should have lapsed since the
buddy’s date of separation from TCS. Referrer will have to connect with Branch TAG team for
referring ExTCSer Buddy to take the referral process forward.

10. It is essential for the buddy to know the employee who is referring them, personally prior to the
referral. Candidates who are sourced from job portals, walk-ins, direct applications, social
networking sites and are not personally known to the employee cannot be referred.

11. No favours (monetary or otherwise) may be exchanged between TCS employee and the buddy.
