LESSON
Teaching May 18, 2022
LOG
Date and Quarter Fourth
Time 2: 00 – 3: 00 Section CLIPPER- A
I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of…

● uniformly accelerated motion, motion in two-dimensions using projectile motion as
example, impulse and momentum and conservation of linear momentum.

B. Performance Standard The learners should be able to…

● propose ways to enhance sports related to momentum.

C. Learning Competencies The learners should be able to…

● identify the factors that affect momentum
● solve for momentum using the formula P= mv
● derive the formula in finding for mass and velocity using the general formula P = mv.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous
Conduct a review about projectile motion using the following questions:
lesson
a. What is projectile motion?
(ELICIT)
b. What are examples of projectile motion

Present a picture of a person running in an oval track. Ask the following questions:
B. Establishing a purpose
a. Imagine that you are running very fast when suddenly, someone blocks your path.
for the lesson (ENGAGE)
What do you think will happen?
b. Why do you think so?

C. Presenting examples After getting the answer of the students, have the students watch a video clip of two
(EXPLORE) vehicles approaching each other at an intersection. Ask the following guide questions:
a. What did you observe in the video clip?
b. What do you think would happen if both vehicles continue moving toward the
intersection?
c. Which vehicle do you think would have greater damage? Why?

D. Discussing new Discuss the concept of momentum using PowerPoint presentation and the following guide
concepts and practicing questions:
a. From the video presented earlier, what are the two factors that affect the
momentum of an object?
b. How does mass affect an objects momentum?
new skills #1 (EXPLAIN) c. How does velocity of an object affect its momentum?

Emphasize that momentum is a vector quantity which means that the direction of
momentum of the object is the same as the direction of its velocity.

After the activity, introduce the formula in solving for momentum.

The teacher will demonstrate how to derive formula in finding for mass and velocity using
the general formula in finding momentum. Introducing the triangle technique in deriving
the formula if velocity and mass is unknown.

E. Discussing new concepts

and practicing new skills #2
(EXPLORE)

 For students with ADHD, the teacher will use flashcards to reinforce memory skills
since ADHD students have short-term memory.

p= mvv=m= p/v
F. Developing mastery
(EXPLAIN)

G. Finding practical
p/m
The teacher will demonstrate solving sample problems regarding momentum.
The teacher will explain further on how to solve problems if mass and velocity is unknown.

The teacher will now explain the importance of using seat belt and air bags in vehicles.
applications of concepts
 For ADHD students, video clips about the importance of wearing seatbelt will be
and skills in daily living
shown.
(ELABORATE)

H. Making Generalizations The factors that affect momentum is mass and velocity. Operationally momentum is
and abstraction about the defined as the product of the mass and velocity of an object. In equation, p= mv where
lesson (EXPLAIN) p = is the momentum
m = is the mass
v = is the velocity

Using the triangle technique, the formula for finding mass is m= p/v, while for finding
velocity the formula is v= p/m.
I. Evaluating Learning The students will be given three problems on finding for momentum, mass, and velocity.
(EVALUATE) 1. If a 4.5 kg bowling ball is rolled down the bowling lane with a velocity of 6.00 m/s,
what is its momentum?
2. Calculate the momentum of a 0.145 kg baseball being thrown at a speed of 40.0
m/s.
3. Calculate the momentum when a 10 kg object move with a speed of 5 m/s.

 Evaluation for learners with ADHD.

Learners with ADHD will be challenged to perform an activity about momentum
following the given procedure.

Materials needed:
4. Two marbles- one small and one large
5. A ruler with a groove in the middle
6. A couple of thick hardback books
7. An index card
8. Masking tape
Procedure:

1. Set up the ruler on top of one book.

2. Fold the index card in half so that it stands up. (The idea is that the marble will
roll down the ruler and bump the card. The farther the index card moves, the
more momentum the marble has. Use tape to make a line so that you can line
up the index card in the same spot each time.)
3. Prop the ruler up on two books. Roll the same marble down the ruler.
4. Lower the ruler to just one book again. This time, roll the large marble down
the ruler instead of the smaller one.
5. Make three trials on each of the set-ups and make a table for the results.
6. Get the average of the results.
Guide Questions:
7. Did the card get pushed farther when you prop the ruler up on two books?
Why?
8. How do your results compare to the other two options when you roll the large
marble down the ruler instead of the larger one? why?

J. Additional activities for Assignment:

application or remediation Bring the materials needed for activity no. 7, Playing Egg Volleyball
(EXTEND) Raw eggs (1 for each pair of students)
Clear plastic bag where an egg can be inserted

V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation

B. No. of learners who require additional activities for

remediation who scored below 80%
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well?
Why did this work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or
supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover
which I wish to share with other teachers?
