More than 20 years ago, Syngenta launched its last epochal
patented fungicide, Azoxystrobin, which is contributing over $1
billion to the sales revenue of the company every year. And now,
the total sales have exceeded $20 billion. Syngenta expects the
annual global sales of Pydiflumetofen to reach $1 billion in the
future.

In December 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs
of the People's Republic of China announced the list of the “13th
Batch of Pesticide Products to be Approved for Registration”,
comprising 17 products based on six new active ingredients, four
of which are firstly registered in China, where the most number
of new products have been debuting since the adoption of a
new pesticide registration policy in China. Included in the list are
six pesticide products containing two new active ingredients,
Tripyrasulfone and Fenpyrozone, independently developed by
KingAgroot, a Chinese agrochemical company.
Tripyrasulfone is a brand new patented compound, which
is also the world’s first HPPD inhibitor herbicide that can be
safely applied to the post-emergent stem and leaf treatment of
paddy fields to control grassy weeds. With the launch of paddy
field herbicides, “Daoyu®”, “Daoguying®” and “Jingjie®”, with
Tripyrasulfone as the active ingredient, in the spring of 2020,
they will function to clear obstacles and guarantee rice planting in
China maintains a high and stable yield.
Fenpyrazone is the third generation of the HPPD inhibitor
herbicide created by KingAgroot for corn planting. Due to its new
chemical structure containing fluorine, compared with previous
generations of HPPD inhibitors, Fenpyrazone has a more
balanced herbicidal spectrum with a more stable effect. It has
no cross resistance for green foxtail, crabgrass, barnyard grass
and the like, which are resistant to Nicosulfuron, and it is very
safe for corn crops. It is an excellent tool for the management of
ALS inhibitor resistant weeds. The cornfield herbicide products,
“Jinyuying®” and “Jinwenyu®”, with Fenpyrazone as the active
ingredient, will be introduced in the spring of 2020.
On September 10, 2019, “Fulvancaozhi”, a new generation of
patented compounds for the non-selective herbicide developed
by KingAgroot, was officially named by the National Pesticide
Standardization Technical Committee, paving the way for the
company’s non-selective herbicide to move from the research
and development pipeline to commercialization. This is another
major breakthrough for KingAgroot after the registration of
Cypyrafluone, Bipyrazone, Tripyrasulfone, and Fenpyrazone. It is
also one of the six new patented compounds for herbicides to be
introduced by KingAgroot in the next five years. With the gradual
ban of paraquat and glyphosate and the growing problem of weed
resistance, it is possible for “Fulvancaozhi”, a new generation of
synthetic hormone non-selective herbicide, to become the most
novel solution in the global herbicide market.
In 2018, the patented herbicide compounds, Cypyrafluone
and Bipyrazone, of KingAgroot, applicable to wheat fields,
were registered and introduced in the market. With the launch
of Tripyrasulfone and Fenpyrozone for rice and corn in 2020,
KingAgroot will provide weed resistance solutions for the planting
of rice, corn and wheat, which are the most important food crops
in China and the world, in the next 20 years.
