III. PROCEDURE
A. Review Teacher: What is sketching, shading, outlining?
Pupils: Sketching- is the process by which an image is drawn in a loose
manner. It is a rough representation of an object, an idea,
or a principle.
Shading- is the process of marking the inside of an outline to project
shadows or degrees of lightness and darkness
Outlining- is the process of making on the outer parts of any shape,
object or any figure by the use or lines

B. Motivation KRA 2.4- (Manages learner behaviour constructively by applying positive and non-violent discipline
ensure learning –focused environments
Listen attentively
Respect when someone is talking
Wait for your turn.
Participate in the discussion

The pupils will watch a video clips about “ The Carpenter’s House”
Class what have you learned from the video?

C. Presentation Today, we are going to identify the different tools used in shading, sketching,
and outlining.
E. Discussion There are tools and Instruments used in sketching, shading and outlining.
The following are the common tools and instruments used in drawing:
Drawing table – is made of wood ,
measuring 26x 22 or 18x24 inches.
The working edge is straight
and the surface is smooth.
.
T square – is made of wood, metal,
or plastic, and has two parts joined
together in a 90 angle head and blade

Triangles –These are used to draw

vertical and oblique lines, the most
common of which are
triangles 45, 30, 60 and 90.

Protractor – is a tool used to set off

measurements of angles and arcs that
cannot be made by triangles. It has a
scale
on the outer side, starting from 0 to 180
from right to left. The inner scale starts
from 0 and up to 180.

Pencils These are tools used in

drawing,
which come in different grades
hardiness.
Pencils are classified according to
number and letter like B, B1,6B,HB
and IH.

Compass- is used in drawing arcs and

circles. This is pointed and has a pencil
at the end.

Divider – like the compass, this is used

to divide distances into two equal parts
and to transfer measurements and space,
points or lines.

F. Developmental Activity 1.( Teacher to Pupil)

Activities  Teacher will give a sample degree then she will call a pupil to
measure it using the protractor
Ex. Using the protractor draw an angle that measures 90 degree , 60,
45 degree. KRA 1.1 – ( Integration in mathematics ,degree
measurement )
KRA 1.2 – ( numeracy skills)
Activity 2. ( Pupil to Material)- .KRA 1.2 –( literacy skills)

 Arrange the scrambled letter. Refer to the clue on the right side
1. ERDIVID - like the compass, this is used to divide distances
into two equal parts and to transfer
measurements
and space, points or lines.
2.QSAUERT– is made of wood, metal, or plastic, and has two
parts joined together in a 90 angle head and blade
3. GELARTIN – These are used to draw vertical and oblique
lines, the most common of which are triangles
45, 30, 60 and 90.
4. ASPOCMS - is used in drawing arcs and circles. This is
pointed and has pencil at the end.
5.ORTTAORPCR – is a tool used to set off measurements of
angles and arcs that cannot be made by triangles.
It has a scale on the outer side, starting from 0 to
180 from right to left. The inner scale starts
from 0 and up to 180.

Activity 3. (Pupil to Pupil)

Sets Standards in group activity
Group the pupils into 3 groups. Each group will be given an activity cards for
the instruction.
KRA 2.6: ( Uses differentiated activities to address learners needs, strength,
interest and experiences)

Group 1- Draw 3 tools used in sketching , shading , and

outlining.
Group 2- Arrange the scrambled words to make the sentence
correct.
Group 3- Make 1 3-D tool used in sketching, shading , outlining

D. Generalization What are the tools used in sketching , drawing outlining?

E. Application 1.Why do we need to make a sketch when planning a product?
KRA 1. 3: ( Applies a range of
Answer: because through sketching we can see what its look like.
teaching strategies to 2.Is outlining necessary in preparing a design? Why?
develop Answer: Yes, because in outlining the shape of the objects are defined
critical thinking , a well
as other higher –order 3.How does shading affect in the marketing of the product?
thinking skill Answer: shading is important because shading is one strategy that attract
the customer to by the product.

Teacher will call a pupil to answer ( note: pupil will use the computer in choosing
his/her answer.
.KRA 3.9-(Selects develops, organizes and uses appropriate teaching and
learning resources, including ICT, to address learning goals )

Choose the letter of the correct answer
