their offer to study at UCL and applied by the deadline.
Students coming to UCL for less than a full year may be allocated housing,
but this cannot be guaranteed.

Council tax Council tax is a system of local taxation collected by local authorities. Please
look at the specific pages about council tax for further information about
exemption as a student.
Please note that you are only eligible for council tax exemption from the official
start date of your course which can be found on your Statement of Student
Status letter. This means that if you move into your accommodation before the
official start date of your course, you will have to pay council tax for this period
of time.
Health advice Students who are making an application for a visa of more than 6 months will be
required to pay an immigration health surcharge for access to the NHS whilst on
their studies in the UK.
The IHS is mandatory for anyone wishing to enter the UK to study on a Tier 4
visa. From 6 April 2016 nationals of Australia and New Zealand are also
required to pay the surcharge and are no longer exempt.
The IHS will allow you to access the NHS in the same way as a permanent UK
resident.
You do not need to pay the IHS if you are an EU/EEA student or if you are
studying in the UK with a short-term study visa. For more information about this
please see the UCL Immigration and Visa page, and the UKVI website
Cost of Living Estimates for this will vary, as each student will have different personal tastes
and circumstances, but a total of £290 per week is considered a reasonable
average. Please consult the following webpage for more information:
