Suction Screen (Torque Converter Scavenge) - Clean

Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot
oil or hot components to contact the skin.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during


performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool


Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Park the machine on a level surface and stop the engine. Make sure that the transmission
control is in the PARK position.

2. Remove cover assembly (1) and the torque converter screen.

3. Wash the screen and the cover assembly in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Do not crush the
screen.

4. Inspect the seal on the cover assembly. If the seal is damaged, replace the seal with a new seal.

5. Install the screen and the cover assembly.

6. Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Inspect the area for leaks and make any
necessary repairs.

7. Check the oil level in the transmission/torque converter. Refer to Operation and Maintenance
Manual, "Transmission and Torque Converter Oil Level - Check" for the proper procedure. If
necessary, add oil.
