Fiber Optic Gyro Compass

and Attitude Reference System

The LFK95 is a marine Gyro Compass and Attitude

Reference System using state-of-the-art Fiber
Optic Gyros in a strapdown configuration.
System Description

The LFK95 is a solid-state

marine Gyro Compass and
Attitude Reference System
with no moving mechanical
components. It is mechanized
in proven state-of-the-art
strapdown technology,
comprising six modules only:

 three Fiber Optic Gyro

Modules
 one two axis Level Sensor
 one Navigation Processor
Card
 one Power Supply Module

Each Fiber Optic Gyro Module

includes:
 a Fiber Optic Coil
an analog electronic card The Power Supply Module All six modules are mounted
containing the light source, receives an external 28 VDC on a common base plate,
photodetector and an A/D supply voltage and generates which acts as the mechanical

Benefits of Use
• Low initial cost
• No scheduled maintenance
• High MTBF of more than 20,000 hours resulting in low life cycle cost
• Easy installation due to small size and weight
• Use of the IPSU (Interface and Power Supply Unit) provides a variety of interfaces
to the user
• 24 VDC operation with low power consumption
• Very short settling time and capability to align at sea
• Very high dynamic performance
