sins: (2 Corinthians 7:8-10 KJV, Psalm 38:17-18 KJV, Acts 17:30-31 KJV, and Mark 1:14-15 & 2:17 KJV)
- Genuinely believe and put your faith in the
gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God to save you from your sins: (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV, Acts 20:20-21 KJV, & John 3:14-21, 36 KJV)
- Genuinely call upon the name of the Lord
(ask) for mercy and salvation: (Romans 10:8-13 KJV, Luke 18:13-14 KJV, Psalm 86:5 KJV, & Matthew 12:36-37 KJV) The necessity to repent:
God literally commands all men
everywhere to repent (grieve for/turn from our sins: Acts 17:30-31 KJV). The Lord Jesus Christ said twice (the significance of twice is due to 2 Corinthians 13:1 KJV & Deuteronomy 19:15 KJV) that if a person does not repent, THEY WILL PERISH (Luke 13:1-5 KJV). Furthermore God is the One that gives us repentance (grievance) when we acknowledge the truth (2 Timothy 2:24-26 KJV). The truth that we are vile and not good (Revelation 3:16-20 KJV & Romans 3:10-18, 23 KJV) and that we are on our way to hell for our sins (Isaiah 59:1-2 KJV, Ezekiel 18:4 KJV, and Mark 9:43-48 KJV). The necessity to believe and put your faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God:
- If you don’t know and/or believe the
gospel then you are lost. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4 KJV) - The gospel does not profit you unless you have faith in it. (Hebrews 4:2 KJV) - If you don’t have faith in the gospel it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6 KJV) - The wrath of God abides on you if you don’t believe the gospel. (John 3:36 KJV)
Sincerely believe and put your faith in the
gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God, friend, which is plainly and clearly said in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV. The necessity to call upon the name of the Lord:
The heart and mouth are connected (Luke
6:45 KJV, Romans 10:8-10 KJV, and Matthew 12:34-35 KJV).What’s in a person’s heart will be revealed through their mouth. A person’s faith will show to God by the words they speak to God which come from their heart. A person is both justified and condemned by their words (Matthew 12:37 KJV tied to Proverbs 18:21 KJV). Also, God knows when people are sincere with their words or not (Matthew 15:7-9 KJV). Salvation belongs to God (Psalm 3:8 KJV), we can NOT take anything from God without asking him for it and having his permission. Furthermore using our words is how we receive things from God, including salvation. The necessity to call upon the name of the Lord: It’s also very important to understand that there are over 50+ examples in scripture of people asking/calling upon the name of the Lord for help/salvation and God helps/saves them. There are also examples of people that do NOT call upon the name of the Lord and these are the people and things that happen to those that do NOT call upon the name of the Lord: - Hypocrites: Job 27:8-10 KJV. - Workers of iniquity: Psalm 14:4 KJV. - God’s wrath is poured upon the kingdoms that don’t call upon the name of the Lord: Psalm 79:6 KJV. - Those that don’t call upon the name of the Lord are consumed by him: Isaiah 64:7 KJV. - God’s fury is poured out upon those that don’t call upon the name of the Lord: Jeremiah 10:25 KJV. Conclusion For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. (Romans 15:4 KJV)
In conclusion, all throughout the scriptures
we see that we are supposed to repent, believe on God, and call upon the name of the Lord for salvation. Every example and scenario in scripture is for us to learn by. We see in the scriptures that people repented and were saved, believed the gospel and were saved, and also called upon the name of the Lord and were saved, we should do the same. May God give you the understanding of what biblical salvation is and God help you to genuinely repent, genuinely believe and put your faith in the gospel, and genuinely call upon the name of the Lord for salvation.
