RCCOLA AUTOMATED INVENTORY SYSTEM

According to Amelounate, RC Cola Orani Enterprise was established on January

2008 catering to 20 sub dealers all over Bataan and 50 stores from Orani to Balanga.
The manner of operation is manual, thus every transaction is recorded and solved
manually. In terms of supply ordering process, all emptied bottles/cases are delivered to
the mother company located at Lubao, Pampanga; this is done if they reach the
maximum cases of 1,720 needed for hauling. When it comes to operation, the number
of cases of goods delivered to the sub dealers and stores are written on Daily
Remittance Report. However, the report cannot monitor if how many cases are
available on the warehouse or how many bottles/cases are missing.

The problem mainly concerns on the inventory. They are relying on physical
count of incoming goods and recorded on a piece of paper and transferred to a
columnar book. Every transaction on the outgoing of goods is being recorded to a Daily
Record Book and transferred to Daily Remittance Report. However, this process
provides redundant records, inaccuracy on their daily reports and make it    hard for the
management to determine how many cases are still available in the warehouse and if
this stocks are enough to sustain the needs of their customers. If operations will stop
due to availability of stocks, It cost the company an estimated value of P 20, 000.00
losses on their income.

BELL ELECTRONICS INVENTORY SYSTEM

According to Bchaney, Bell Electronics Lab Corporation situated in Calamba,

Laguna is engaged in testing and assembly of optoelectronics and sensor devices. The
company is concentrating on its resources in program is towards the development of
other types of optoelectronic and sensors device packaging to support their customer
requirements. The PDA module is composed of bar code scanner to scan issued and
received items, and a Z8F6423 Zilog micro controller to sore the information. A Product
Inventory System (PIS) application program is also discussed to show how the PDA
module can be interfaced with the PIS. Test results presented in this paper will show
apparent improvement of company’s inventory system.

WAL- MART’S: SMART INVENTORY SYSTEM

According to Seanferd, Wal-Mart uses the SMART inventory system which is
basically a tracking system that keeps track of all of Wal-Mart’s inventory as well as it
automatically reorder products that the store is either low or empty on. The SMART
system is though the Telxon which is a 900 MHz wireless hand held terminal equipped
with bar code scanners. When the bar code is scanned the number of that item will
show up instantly as well as a short description of the product.

The advantages of the SMART system is that it has to be huge because products
that Wal-Mart do not carry will still scan and give out the relevant information so that it is
easier for people to return products. The SMART system is linked to the cash registers
as well as inventory is automatically update as products are sold. Hand counts are
updated as well as some products automatically updated. The main disadvantage of the
SMART system is that everything has to be coded with bar codes. Which can lead to
additional cost but the main key to an effective bar code system is to get as close as
possible to the bar code data source.

SALES AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The retail business vision is to maximize profit from customer satisfaction and
loyalty towards the store by providing more personalize service for the customer.
However, retail business also easy to lose its possible customer if they do not have
sufficient stocks in the store. Thus, in this paper, the developer had identified problem
related with inventory that exists in a one of oldest retail store in Taman Majuknown as
Rahmath Store. The major problem of the store is they do not have proper inventory
control system in guiding and managing their sale and inventory level of the store.

By proposing Sale & Inventory Management System to the store as the

replacement of old manual ways, the project aims in providing system with enhanced
and more flexible functions to the store. The objective of the system is to provide
functions in managing goods in the store more efficiently. In order to achieve the
objectives derived, the scope of the project will focus on the aspects such as database,
report generating, quality control (QA) and point of sale of the store. Besides, the
development of system will be based on offline system or window based.

In developing the system, phase development prototype is chosen. This

methodology wii perform the development stage in according to modules underlines in
the scope of the project. Thus, version by version of the system will be developed
before the whole complete system is ready to use. The expected result of the system is
that the user interface to be developed will be user-friendly so that it can be handle
easily by people with no IT background. Besides, the system is also expected to serve
its functions and helps Rahmath Store in reducing time and paperwork in managing
their inventory.
SALES AND INVENTORY SYSTEM

Sales and Inventory System is one of the basic problems in almost every
company. Before computer age and integration, paper tables and paperwork solutions
were being used as inventory management tools. These we very far from being a
solution, took so much time, even needed employees just for this section of
organization. There was no an efficient solution available in the many companies during
these days. Every process was based on paperwork, human fault rate was high, the
process and the tracing the inventory losses were not possible, and there was no
efficient logging systems. After the computer age, every process is started to be
integrated into electronic environment. Now we have qualified technology to implement
new solutions to these problems. Software based systems bring the advantages of
having the most efficient control with less effort and employees. These developments
provide new solutions for also inventory systems in this context. In this paper, a new
solution for Sales and Inventory System(SIS) is designed and implemented.

SALES & INVENTORY MONITORING SYSTEMS

Data Collection for Decision-Making

Using this type of system, a company makes strategic business decisions regarding
raw material purchases, production scheduling, pricing, logistics and other decisions in
the supply chain. Sales and inventory data enables the company to increase or
decrease production in the factory so the company won't have too many finished
goods stored in its warehouses.

Function

A sales and inventory monitoring system collects data to aid in production scheduling.
For example, some systems use recent sales data to forecast how many of a type of
product will be needed to meet consumer demand in the near future. This includes
monitoring the levels of a product at all locations. A good example is a global company
with customers all over the world. The customer may live in Japan, but the system
must see if the warehouse in Canada has a product available to ship to Japan.

How it Works

The system compares current inventory levels of a product and the number scheduled
for production with the number needed, and determines if the level of production must
be changed. If necessary, the system sends a message to the master production
schedule to increase production. Also, the inventory monitoring system slows down
production when a product's retail sales levels don't meet the sales forecast and the
company overproduces the product.

Competitive Advantage

Automated sales and inventory monitoring gives a company a competitive advantage

by linking different automated processes within the supply chain. For example,
automating the ordering process for customers and the production scheduling, then
adjusting manufacturing based on up-to-date inventory levels, makes a company more
flexible, capable of deciding how to best satisfy customer orders. When automated
activities are linked -- ensuring information flows rapidly from one part of the supply
chain to another -- a company can exploit these linkages. Management can make
rapid decisions to increase revenues, such as ramping up production immediately in
one location because of a sudden surge in demand in another part of the world.

INVENTORY SYSTEMS SUMMARY

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, “Inventory refers to stocks

of anything necessary to do business” (U.S. Small Business Administration, 2013) The
U.S. Small Business Administration publication describes what constitutes successful
inventory management balancing cost versus benefits of inventory, including
Maintaining a wide assortment without spreading the rapidly moving items too thin,
Increasing inventory turnover without sacrificing service, Keeping stock low without
sacrificing performance, Obtaining lower prices by making volume purchases,
Maintaining an adequate inventory without an excess of absolute items.
