Summative Assessment 2: Activity 4

Fake news is a type of yellow journalism or propaganda that consists of deliberate

misinformation or hoaxes spread via traditional print and broadcast news media or online
social media. In a Word Document/Google Docs/piece of paper, disprove the following news
headlines, using your opinions and facts from research. (10 points each)

1. A Conspiracy Brought to You by Big Pharma (7-8 sentences) - According to this theory,
pharmaceutical giants that have made a fortune off of drugs are hiding simple, effective
coronavirus treatments so that they can profit from the sale of a future vaccine. The anti-
vaccine movement piggybacks on the delayed treatment conspiracy.

 Working in pharma industry comes in different shapes and form that this theory is
claiming pharmaceutical giants that have made a fortune off of drugs are hiding
simple, effective coronavirus treatments so that they can profit from the sale of a
future vaccine. Theories nowadays are being taken as facts by people which theories
are not even supported by strong evidence even if it is written by a professional
person. Pharmaceutical giants comes as being “conservative” and they are the ones
who can cause deaths if they take and make simple vaccines that this theory
claiming. According to Tunnah (2021), “It’s like accusing Mahatma Gandhi of being
Genghis Khan” because it is rubbish and monstrously wrong because of the
experience he experience as he meets people working in the industry every day
because of how feel incredibly proud of the work they do and are inspired to make a
difference to patients. The conspiracy theory is just fueling and triggering people to
believe what they want as to believe that’s why they are spreading claimed opinions
to take those industries down. This conspiracy uses tagline to cause malicious
comments which is considered as harassment to the workers which continues to
receive hate because of these selfish claims. In this conspiracy brought by Big
Pharma, proves how they want to use lies, claims and with no evidence to cover the
facts and truth in which the ones who wrote that theory and who claims that theory are
the ones using those industries for money by making those theories.

2. Temperature as a Cure (7-8 sentences) - Just as the scientific community didn’t give
Trump’s theories on COVID-19’s survival in high temperatures a seal of approval – hand
dryers and UV lamps don’t effectively guard against the virus – the WHO has also discredited
the idea that cold weather and snow can kill the new virus. So, don’t bother going on an ice
cream binge.

 Scientist uses different species like fruits, vegetables, and even animals like saliva’s
for their studies but not all the time it works. Just like the claim ‘temperature as a
cure’, we cannot rely on it because it doesn’t even help one country to lessen it
because what if temperature also helps the virus as a host. Even WHO discredited the
idea because it doesn’t have enough evidence or strong evidence that temperature is
really a cure because if it is a cure it is almost doesn’t change the fact that the
widespread of the corona virus is increasing every day. Hand dryers and UV lamps
can damage the skin because ultraviolet should not be used for sterilizing hands
because it can irritate the skin most especially the ones having a skin disease like
cancer in the skin. Temperature may also cause fevers which may lead to cause the
person to be accused to have acquired a virus. Not all that are being concluded are
the truth because it can be the one that will cause problem if it is not being concluded
well.
