I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:


 identify and familiarize interval and its two kinds;
 distinguish ascending and descending in intervals;
 analyze the musical intervals; and
 appreciate the value of intervals.

A. Warm up

E. Generalization

“There are two kinds of intervals: MELODIC INTERVAL – also called vertical interval are two
notes that are played one after the other. In other words, these are notes written or played
successively. It has two types namely: ascending (pataas) and descending (pababa). The other
interval is HARMONIC INTERVAL – also called vertical interval are two notes that are played
together or simultaneously. Remember, when we counting the interval, we have to start counting
from BOTTOM TO TOP.”

F. Enrichment Activity

Have some students practice to a familiarize song that best associates with a particular melodic
interval.

Instructions: Listen attentively to the sound of the notes I’ll play then write D if it’s
Descending, A if Ascending, and H if Harmonic in a piece of paper. I will call you one by
one to present your answers.
