MEMORANDUM
TO : MR BOOI AND THE OFFICE
FROM : SIBHUQASHEBT
In recent years the development of rural enterprises has increasingly attracted attention amongst
the development community owing to the broadening of opportunities for the commercialization
of smallholder agriculture. Despite this interest, there are several factors that continue to limit the
capacity of farmers and rural entrepreneurs to make an effective contribution to sustainable and
equitable economic growth. Many of these factors are well recognized and include inadequate
economies of scale, the high risks associated with farming, lack of capital assets and
infrastructure, limited access to markets and inadequate technical and business skills.
However, as per our research little work has been carried out on the provision of business
services at farm level in areas around our region, particularly in remoter rural areas where
markets are weak.
The problem
As a company that is involved in vegetable farming. It has come to our attention that a vegetable
market can be a source or a resolution to other small and medium vegetable farmers who wish
their stock can be bought somewhere. We pledge as the above mentioned company to be the
wholesale and retail vegetable market to small and medium vegetable producers, and customers
around our region.
Now, we seek to request your good office to assist us to build a Vegetable market structure/s so
as to create new markets for the disadvantaged vegetable producers and open doors for our farm
market as we would like to sell our produce to big markets or stores like Superspar, Shoprite etc.
Land
We have open available land about 2.5 hectares. Layout structures are attached on the next pages
