Flash flooding on neighbouring properties as a result of decades of

continued filling of the Yamba floodplain wetlands for development.


More fill is already approved and large DAs for filling in the pipeline.

2002 - a section showing the main Yamba Road access through the middle
West to East. More has happened in 10 years, with much more to come!
Park Ave development site is outlined in red to the north showing Reedy
Creek draining East and West in north of site and swamp / wetlands in the
west. In 2006 the whole site was filled to AHD 2.8m, with retaining walls
constructed on the (red) perimeter boundary.
A current DA2022/0558 with the RPP seeks to further fill in places up to
AHD 4.45m with additional retaining walls to the East and West, batter to
the North and South and increase the number of lots from 21 to 136.

Land immediately to the south of Yamba Road has already been subdivided and
contains homes approximately in line with houses shown.
Vacant land to the south of the homes forms part of West Yamba Urban Release
Area (WYURA) already subdivided without a Master Plan and destined to receive

270,000 truckloads of fill. Some parts are already filled, some approved to be
filled, some DAs currently under consideration and more in the pipeline.

135 Yamba Road – during 2022 intense rain event stormwater and sewage entered the
home which has sustained substantial damage and awaiting structural assessment.
