SOLUTION
Let us assume n number of parabolas which make n number of sectors of a circle.
An angle inscribed by each sector can be found using
Ø = 360/n i.e < 1O2=360/n
From 1O2 the angle is Ø/2 …. Let Ø/2 = Ω. then Ω=180/n
Now take out the triangle OAD and calculate the dimension of each side.
Y= Cos Ω 1
X= Sin Ω
Ω=180/n
X
Here we have two similar triangles 1O4 and O25
DIMENSIONS
14 = cos Ω = 25
4O= -sin Ω and O5= sin Ω
O3= Radius= 1
From the above dimensions we found the coordinates of the three points
of the parabola which lie on the circle.
1(-sin Ω,Cos Ω) 2(sin Ω, Cos Ω) 3(0,1)
Now using the above points determine the equation of the parabola
which has the general equation of
Y= ax²+bx+c
Substituting each coordinate to the equation we will find simultaneous
equation which is useful to find the constants a and b.
For point 1 we have Cos Ω = a (-Sin Ω) ²+ b Sin Ω + c
For point 2 Cos Ω = a (Sin Ω) ²+ b Sin Ω + c
Equating the simultaneous equation, we found
a = Cos Ω - 1 b=0 c=1
sin² Ω
1/3* (Cos Ω -1)* (Sin Ω ) ³ - (Cos Ω -1)* (-Sin Ω ) ³ + Sin Ω−(-Sin Ω )- Cos Ωsin Ω *n
Sin² Ω Sin² Ω
