7KW, 1KW, 4KW, 4KW, 2KW, 1KW

7KW+1KW+ 4KW+4KW+2KW+1KW= 19KW

1. Calculate size of UPS required

A simple rule-of-thumb calculation you can use to determine how much UPS is as
follows:

1.6 * Wattage Load = Minimum Volt-Amperes (VA)

2. Determine size of generator

First things first, what equipment will the generator be running?

Cooling(7KW), lights/sockets(1KW), servers(4KW), switches(4KW),
storage(2KW), access control(1KW)

Make a list of everything you need to power and add up the total wattage.
Total wattage= 7KW+1KW+ 4KW+4KW+2KW+1KW= 19KW
The total wattage will tell you the amount of electrical power required by
your equipment and from there you can work out the minimum electrical
input needed from a generator.
If you add up the maximum required wattage for your equipment, you’ll
end up with your total power requirement in kilowatts (kW). Kilowatts is
the actual power that will be used by the load to produce a useful working
output.

Generators are rated in kilo-volt-amperes (kVA). kVA is a measure of

apparent power: it tells you the total amount of power in use in a system. In
a 100% efficient system kW = kVA. However electrical systems are never
100% efficient and therefore not all the systems apparent power will be
used to produce a useful work output.

You can convert between kVA and kW if you know the efficiency of the
electrical system. Electrical efficiency is expressed as a power factor
between 0 and 1: the closer the power factor is to 1, the more efficiently the
kVA is being converted into useful kW.

International standards rate generators as having a power factor of 0.8.

Power factor is very important for matching the size of your load to a
generator: a generator that is rated at 100kVA and has a 0.8pf will be too
small to power equipment that requires 100kW of actual power.
KW = KVA * Power factor, for full efficiency power factor is 1 but the
international standard is 0.8 hence
KVA = KW/PF = 19KW/0.8 = 23.75 KVA
Some say to multiply the size by 2 or add something for safe generation in
which 25 KW or …
3. You can find wattage information either on the equipment’s silver
nameplate or in the manufacturer’s guide.

4. Determine cable size A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I

5. Rating of change over switch
Automatic transfer switches for diesel generators are manufactured to meet
continuous current ratings of 30-4000 amperes. Typically, the most used
ampere ratings include 30, 40, 70, 80, 100, 150, 225, 260, 400, 600, 800,
1000, 1200, 1600, 2000, 3000 and 4000 amperes.
6. Rating of MDB switch gear 1 to 6
Note: assume 3 phase generators
