Activity 1.

1 SPEED, DISTANCE and TIME

Write the given, formula and the solution. BOX the final answer
with the proper unit.

You can use a calculator, but you must show all the steps involved in
doing the problem.

1. You arrived in Science class 50 seconds after leaving TD class which
is 200 meters away. How fast did you travel?

First one is done for you. Proceed with question number 2.

 EXAMPLE:
GIVEN: FORMULA: SOLUTION:
SPEED=? SPEED= DISTANCE/TIME s=200m
DISTANCE= 200m     50s
TIME= 50s =4m/s

1. An airplane flies with a constant speed of 720 km/hr. How far can it
travel in 0.5 hr?
2. Rona is travelling a distance of 500m in 40s. Compute for Rona’s speed.

Activity 1.2 VELOCITY

Check your understanding of velocity and the velocity formula. Be

sure to show all your work.

1. A car is travelling north at a uniform velocity with a distance of 200

meters in 10 seconds. What is the velocity of the car?
2. How many seconds will it take a train traveling at 80 m/s, East to cover
a distance of 320 m?

Activity 1.3 ACCELERATION

Use your OWN PAPER, and show ALL your work. Show the formula
used, the setup, and the answer with the correct units.

1. A grasshopper accelerates from 3 m/s to 9 m/s in 3 seconds.  What

is the grasshopper’s average acceleration?
