Chapter 4 Lesson 1 Political Geography

Activity Sheet No.

Name: John Michael Delos Angeles Date:

Year and Course: IV- BSEM Score: ______________

1. Using political and economic perspectives, how important is the standardized

delineation of boundaries among neighboring countries? This is looking at
boundary disputes among countries (e.g., Philippines vs. China, Russia vs. Ukraine,
Russia vs. Georgia, Greece vs. Turkey, Egypt vs. Sudan) (Not more 200 words).

Russia and Ukraine's conflict has exacerbated supply chain issues, affecting
commodities prices and energy-related and allied companies. "Parties involved in any
dispute, the continuation of which is likely to impair peace and security," from Article 33
of the UN Charter. Standardized delineation of borders among neighboring countries is
critical for the world's economy and political agenda. This borderline affects the extent to
which a government's power extends. Boundaries are crucial for territorial sovereignty.
"Your right ends when the right of others begins." In the Philippines vs. China instance,
Chinese intimidation prevents Filipino boats from reaching traditional fishing grounds
around Scarborough Shoal. China's broad claims of sovereignty over the sea will
immediately impact the country's economy, as the sea is thought to contain 11 billion
barrels of undeveloped oil and 190 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered natural gas.
Establishing boundaries and assigning proper jurisdiction, this delineation will help to
prevent this scenario. By exploiting their resources and controlling the powers of
infiltration of other adjacent countries, standardized delineation of borders among
neighboring countries will boost macro and microeconomics.

Lesson 2 Introduction to Human Geography
Activity Sheet No. 2

Name: Delos Angeles, John Michael G. Date:

Year and Course: IV- BSEM Score: ______________

1. Among the cited brief descriptions of perspectives on human geography, which do

you think is the most critical in explaining human development and in what way
you could relate it to the importance of epistemology as method of understanding
human? (100-200 words discussion)

The state of nature is the most critical aspect in describing human growth because it is
defined by a lack of governance rather than mutual responsibility. Apart from self-
preservation, nature teaches us that we all have the right to life, liberty, and property.
According to Locke, individuals are endowed with these rights as natural rights that
predate the creation of civil society. The tension between nature and civic culture makes
human development difficult. Humans have no common ground in the wild, but in civil
society, people are united by existing common law and a legal system to which they can
appeal.
