ABSTRACT

This study used a descriptive quantitative design utilizing survey as the method in

identifying the level of difficulties encountered by the healthcare providers during the

COVID-19 pandemic in Carsacal, Surigao del Sur. It utilized a researcher-made

questionnaire in gathering the pertinent data. Frequency count and percentage distribution,

mean and standard deviation, and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used in

analyzing the data. There was a very high level of difficulties experienced by mostly young

female and married healthcare providers who finished college degree and in the service for

more than 3 years. Gender, age and civil have entirely posed no significant difference in the

level of difficulties involving all the five variables. Highest educational attainment posed

no significant difference in the level of difficulties involving the first four variables but

with significant difference in the delay in testing. The years of service posed no significant

difference involving daily risk exposure to virus, lack of pandemic preparedness and delay

in testing but significant difference existed with shortage of PPE and enforcing social

distancing. And so, it concluded that the more risk exposures to the virus and the more that

the testing are delayed, the healthcare providers continue to experience a very high level of

difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic. There has been difference in the level of

difficulties experienced by the healthcare providers as to delay in testing in terms of

education attainment. The longer or the shorter the healthcare providers in the service, the

greater possibilities of different levels of difficulties during the pandemic as to shortage of

PPE and enforcing social distancing. Thus, respondents should be equipped with adequate

personal protection equipment and there should more testing facilities to provide faster,

quick and reliable testing results as measure for contact tracing and quarantining.
