WHY ARE YOU DOING A DOCTORATE?

A: Scientific, technical and professional differentiation in today's world is an ever-

increasing demand to respond and meet the challenges that the globalised world
poses to academics, lawyers, jurisconsults and top professionals.
Functional, organisational and operational excellence requires cognitive and
professional capital.
The surrounding reality of academics, intellectuals and top or successful professionals
calls for and pushes the deepening of theories, doctrines and other matters that
sharpen and stimulate the human intellect towards new cognitive acquisitions, i.e. at
the frontier of knowledge.
Economies, companies, industries and above all universities and academic centres,
areas of production and scientific research require, day after day, new knowledge and
the discovery of new universes or phenomena.
The complexity, the multiple daily, organisational, technical and professional tasks and
demands, the rigour and the awakening of the challenges that the regulatory and
technological revolution, typical of a world in constant social, economic, political,
anthropological and communicational development and mobility, as we have said
above, place us before arduous and challenging demands that must be met with
technical, scientific and academic punctuality, that is, intellectual and professional
capital.
The cosmovision of these phenomena, which are the order of the day for each one of
us, because we have to insensibly accompany the scientific and technological progress
of today's world, enlightens us and almost resolutely places us before arduous and
challenging "undertakings", which in the words of a theologian and philosopher
require "plumb" and "level", necessary instruments for the architect and the civil and
construction engineer, not to say for a bricklayer who has to level the work of a
building.
In general terms, I see this training as a means by which I will raise my level of
knowledge and training, both differential and professional, to levels that will ensure
that I can respond almost entirely in accordance with my professional challenges, with
a view to being a true agent of change and growth in society, thus making a valuable
and useful contribution or gains in efficiency and effectiveness, since the quality of
human resources is absolutely unavoidable or a critical success factor.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WILL GAIN WITH YOUR DOCTORATE?
A : In view of the above, that is, as we have shown above, the gain should be seen in
my humble and bold opinion in five dimensions:
1. Better and higher academic and professional qualifications in the personal
sphere.
2. Greater and better contribution to the improvement, development, affirmation
and sustainability of the society in which I am inserted, as well as in the
organisations in which I collaborate.
3. The discovery and assimilation of new theories, doctrines and the improvement
of jurisprudence in the jurisdictional field, especially in the corporate, banking
and financial field. It will allow a greater understanding and analytical elasticity,
framework, characterization and personal and institutional development.
4. The organizational performance as positive reflexes to the organizational value,
the value creation and the value realization;
5. Overcome my gaps, deficiencies and shortcomings resulting from knowledge
not compatible with the challenges, goals and objectives, personal, which can
be categorized based on three dimensions :
a) Quality - Service excellence;
b) Time - Process excellence;
c) Cost - The economic side of knowledge;

WHAT WILL THE DOCTORATE BE USEFUL FOR (PROFESSIONAL, ACADEMIC OR

OTHER)?
A: Man as a social being and, in this case, as a PhD student, seeks to answer as a useful
element his personal, intellectual, professional and academic growth and as a
contributor to the emergence and effervescence of science.
In the personal case and being a professional in the financial banking sector, this
doctorate, I believe that it will provide me with tools and instruments that will truly
improve the modest contribution and professional performance, on the other hand, to
assume myself as a training agent, in a continuous and perhaps specific perspective in
the organisations in which I am inserted.
Knowledge as an economic resource, the knowledge economy and the knowledge
society, undeniably constitute factors and intangible capital that act as energisers of
human capital, as well as indicators of confidence in organisations, raising the levels of
production and profitability, adding value - economic rationality - the fundamental
objective of companies and organisations.
Because we understand that the creation of organisational energy can be done by
positive or negative stimulation, the greater and better our knowledge, our

empowerment and training, we will be apt and more solid for the challenges, for the
strategies and to follow development realistically, creating a climate of enthusiasm,
defining enticing and ambitious goals, adopting healthy practices that seek to reconcile
three realities:
1. Where Are We?
2. What do we want and Where are we going?
3. What tools can we count on?

The answer to these questions, aware that persistence is a precursor of victories, I

persist in learning, as the author says "the resilient know that not all problems have
solutions".
Finally, the doctorate will be useful for me to meet the challenges and commitments in
this era of knowledge in which the creation of value is only possible through the
quality of human resources, as the main asset of any organisation.

HOW DID YOU PREPARE YOURSELF TO DO THE PHD?

A: Preparation and organisation as critical success factors for any project should
identify and characterise us in any human activity. We understand that a careful and
adequate preparation, which in this case also includes organisation, contributes
fundamentally to the mobilisation and convocation of our efforts: intellectually,
physically and motivationally. Therefore, my preparation took into account the
following steps:
1. identification and/or location of the bibliographical index, i.e. the study or
research collection;
2. Developing work on the basis of the regulatory requirements and directives
governing the doctoral scheme;
3. Develop an academic and scientific environment in the family (home) and
professional environment, which will help in the concentration and
development of scientific work;
4. Programming, individual discipline concerning the availability for studies,
research and interactivity, or colloquial, focusing on the core terms of the
dissertation or the preparation of the doctoral thesis;5. Presentation of the
theme, the index of authors and publications in the areas of scientific
concentration.
