It is part of human nature to fall ill, which results in finding medical guidance from the

nearest medical facilities. As diagnosing an ailment through naked eyes is impossible, doctors

must conduct tests to determine the real cause of the disease. Laboratory facilities are available

for performing the required test under the control of a lab technician. Using microscopy to

analyze the specimen to determine how far the spread is essential in giving accurate information

to the patient. Applying the electron microscope in studying cells is advised to have high

resolution, thus recommended in all testing facilities.

1. Describe a clinical scenario that requires the use of a microscope.

In a recent analysis from the health department, cancer cases are rising rapidly, alarming

the health of the citizens. Cancer is known to be a developing disease that receives a diagnosis at

a late stage. Most patients fear being a cancer patient as they know it will only shorten their life

span. The cancer cells are known to be mutating in such that, once eliminated in one part of the

body, they migrate and start developing in on the other part. Patients tend to be declared cancer-

free, but after some years, they become victims again. It has prompted researchers in Mayo clinic

to try and prevent the rapid growth of the cells by finding a cure for the disease. As viruses and

bacteria are microbial, using a microscope helps see those tissues and cells affected to declare a

patient or a healthy person.

2. What microscope is the best choice for your scenario and why?

Analyzing cells using a microscope is believed to see minor details that scientists cannot

notice with open eyes. Using an electron microscope helps reveal the cells' morphological

features due to the available high-quality polycarbonate filters (Lu et al., 2017). With high

magnification and resolution, the electron microscope uses beams of electrons instead of light-

producing images of the specimen, which clearly shows how far the cells have an infection. It

helps identify the cause and reaction a patient will experience if subjected to a specific type of

medicine (Al-Sheddi et al., 2018). Electron microscope of transmission electron needs thin

dissections to see through, and scanning electron does not require slicing of the specimen.

3. What would be your second choice?

The electron microscope is quite expensive, but its results are impressive. If a medical

facility lacks that microscope, using the compound is advised to use a beam of light. It is

affordable are its results are dependable, thus being valuable.
