Create a concept map / word cloud / graphic organizer that presents your definition of
DISABILITY and based from the article of World Report on Disability.

Disability is part of the human condition.

Disability is a blanket term covering impairments,

activity limitations, and participation restrictions
that refer to the negative aspects of an
individual's relationship with their environment.

The identified transition from a "medical model" to

a "social model," in which people are disabled by
society rather than their bodies.

"Disability arises from the interaction of people

with disabilities and psychological and
environmental barriers that prevent them from
fully and effectively participating in society on an
equal basis with others."

Persons with disabilities are diverse and

heterogeneous

Reflect and Answer

Reflect on this quote of Professor Stephen Hawking: “I have had motor neurone disease for
practically all my adult life. Yet it has not prevented me from having a prominent career in
astrophysics and a happy life.”

Professor Stephen Hawking was once evidence of a man with limitless capabilities throughout his
life. Even though he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), he was considered
one of the greatest theoretical physicists of all time and had the greatest contribution to the field of
Science. His direct verbatim already implies what kind of a person he is- a strong, bright, and most
importantly an optimistic human being. He did not allow his disability to stop him from doing
what he had already started- his entire life is fruitful as he continued his passion for Science with
the help and dedication of his loved ones.

Just like in life, to succeed, we are bound to face difficulties and face the reality of life. If a person
who uses a wheelchair in his entire life can achieve more than his body can offer, what more for a
person who is perfectly able and capable to do everything just to achieve his goal? From this, we
acknowledge the involvement of the people who gave us strength and moral support. That even in
the darkest corner of our life, there are people who are ready to light us and motivate us to keep
moving forward and to achieve what we can offer for the betterment of the people around us.

I, therefore, conclude that every human can do great in every field that we are up to, regardless of
whether we are able or disabled, as long as we are being positive in life, acknowledge the people
around us, and know to see the struggle as an opportunity, we are opted to achieve and succeed our
goals in life.
