- Aliping sagigilid had absolutely nothing and stayed in the master’s household
- Aliping sagigilid was called bulisik, which means vile and contemptible.

1. Was the datu similar to a president? Why?

- Yes, the datu was in charge of all government duties. In times of peace, he
was the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, while
in times of war, he was the commander in chief. The President has the
right to sign or veto legislation passed by Congress, albeit Congress can
override a veto with a two-thirds vote of both houses.

2. Why were the dependents not considered as slaves?

- Slavery was a sort of involuntary servitude carried out by a non-family


member. Personal liberty and the freedom to go around as he pleased
were taken away from the slave. There were likely to be limitations on his
ability to make decisions about his career and sexual partners. Slavery
was almost always involuntary, though not always.

3. Give three things from our pre-colonial society that you think can still be seen in
today’s society. Elaborate properly.

a. The formation of a well-organized community system, with rules adopted to


promote social welfare and safeguard nature, spirits, and people.
b. Expansion of indigenous educational and writing systems by focusing on belief
systems, epics, and other mediums that demonstrate the virtues of a just society.
c. Peace pacts, sea and land voyages, communal gatherings, and ethnic
distinctions are all part of a sociable culture.
