Introduction
Our oral health can provide clues to our overall general health. Sometimes, conditions which occur in the
mouth can also affect the rest of our body. Bacteria live in our mouth just as they do in other parts of our
body. Most of the time, the bacteria are harmless and under normal circumstances our body’s natural
defenses keep the bacteria from causing problems. Daily brushing and flossing can keep these bacteria
under control. Unfortunately, if proper home care is neglected the bacteria can reach levels that may lead
to infections including decay and gum disease. Keeping our mouth clean and free of disease is vital to
maintaining oral health. Good dental hygiene can also prevent bad breath and help us maintain our
overall health. Cancer is not a single disease. And there is no single way to talk about it, whether the
conversation is taking place around the family dinner table or roaring across the television screen. But
some ways of thinking and talking about cancer can be more helpful than others.
Body
In adults, their dental health awareness should be assessed by their dentists. If they are aware of their
dental health, they will be able to know, what dental practices should they maintain in order to sustain the
health of their teeth and what practices should they need to reinforce to have a healthy- and strong teeth.
Good oral/dental health translates to good health overall. Dental problems such as cavities or gum
disease can impair your ability to eat and speak properly, cause pain and bad breath. Cancer awareness
is the key to early detection and better health-seeking behavior. Cancer is quite common in both
developing as well as developed countries, but awareness is yet poor among the general population.
Poor awareness may lead to poor uptake of screening modalities and delay in diagnosis.
There were an estimated 18.1 million cancer cases around the world in 2020. Of these, 9.3 million cases
were in men and 8.8 million in women. The most common cancers globally are listed in the tables below.
Conclusion
Eating a variety of foods, regularly, and in the right amounts is the best formula for a healthy diet.
Skipping meals, especially breakfast, can lead to out-of-control hunger, often resulting in helpless
overeating. Brush and floss daily to keep your teeth and gums healthy and free of disease.
