How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☒ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)

for the book they will be reading. My audio gives a quick summary of the story and then lets
students know the expectation of paying attention to character interactions. This lesson will then
allow me to monitor each students understanding and progression as we continue through the
story.
Managing student learning:
Students will be active learners as they will be continually sharing their thoughts and ideas about the
characters and events in the book. Students are set with the goal to watch characters’ interactions with each
other and throughout the reading, there will be pauses for group discussions about characters and the way
the plot is unfolding.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:
This activity supports the UDL of Multiple Means of Engagement as the students will be using audio
podcasts, and the book itself to incite and share their ideas. Students will be actively engaged in
groups and will have the ability to showcase their expression components of the UDL framework
throughout the reading. The audio toll also allows for students to work at their own pace.
Reflection: I feel this lesson will give a fresher take on how to read a book and help students stay
actively engaged. Having the audio podcast feature allows for students to have control over their
reading pace and allows for a familiar voice to help them navigate through the book. This tool also
allows for students to stop, pause or rewind when needed which I think is a great asset for students
in any lesson.
