I. Objectives :
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to :
a. Define and illustrate congruent triangles;
b. State and illustrate the SAS, ASA, SSS and AAS congruence postulates; and
c. Apply the postulates and theorems on triangle congruence to prove
statements on congruence.

III. Procedure :
A. Motivation
- What do you want to become
when you grow up ? - engineer

the structures or
buildings for other profession.

B. Lesson Proper
- let us begin our lesson by finding out
what congruent triangles are.
- in identifying congruent triangles, let us
Identify the parts in terms of their relative
position.
- included angle - the angle between
two sides of a triangle
- included side - the side between
two angles of a triangle.
- corresponding angles - pairs of
angles that are in the same spot of
different triangles.
- corresponding sides - pairs of
sides that are in the same spot of
different triangle
- congruent - having the same size
and shape

- you can now define what congruent


triangles are.
- in order to say that the two triangles are
congruent, we must show that all six pairs
of corresponding parts of the two triangles
are congruent.
- in proving the congruence of triangles we
can use the congruence postulates . - 1. SAS (Side-Angle-Side)
Congruence Postulate –
If the two sides and an included angle
of one triangle are congruent to the
corresponding two sides and the
included angle of another triangle,
then the triangles are congruent.

Congruence Postulate - If the
two angles and the included side of
one triangle are congruent to the

2. Apply your knowledge on
triangle congruence.
3. Fly the paper planes
one at a time. Record the flying
time of each plane. Then, choose
the most stable one.
4. Point out the factors that affect
the stability of the plane.
5. Explain why such principle
works.
6. Draw out conclusion and make
recommendations.
