n) Reinforcement of openings in welded steel pipe

TYPE 1: Usually recommended for crossing canals and other low places where a single length of pipe
for spans up to 60 ft (18,3 m) can be used

TYPE 2: Used in crossing highways, canals, or rivers, where the length of the crossing makes
necessary two intermediate supporting columns. Normally used for crossings from 60 – 132 ft (18,3
m – 40 m), with end spans half the length of the center span.

TYPE 3: Can be used for longer crossings than type 2. It requires 2 expansion joint and five lengths of
pipe with flanges welded to ends of each length at points of contraflexure. Overall crossing lengths
from 104 – 260 ft (32 m – 79 m).
TYPE 4: Designed for conditions where it is necessary to support a continuous series of long, clear
spans. The structure may be made in lengths to suit any field condition.
