ABSTRACT

‘Solar & Lunar Eclipse’ is a 3D demonstration of a Solar and Lunar eclipse which is an
astronomical event that occurs when the Moon's shadow crosses the Earth's surface or
when the Moon moves into the Earth's shadow respectively.

In this mini project, the astronomical bodies – The Sun, the Earth and the Moon,
are drawn and are shown to be in their respective revolution and rotation orbits around the
sun. On the pressing of certain sequential keyboard buttons, the Revolution and rotation
of the bodies, Solar Eclipse and Lunar Eclipse are demonstrated sequentially in a stepwise
manner.

When the button for Revolution is pressed, the earth and the moon are shown to
be revolving and rotating around the static sun at the center.

When the button for a Solar Eclipse is pressed, the revolution of the bodies tends
to stop along a single line when the Moon's shadow crosses the Earth's surface.

When the button for a Lunar Eclipse is pressed, the revolution of the bodies tends
to stop along a single line when the Moon moves into the Earth's shadow respectively.
