Making Connections

This week we will continue to make

connections to the texts we are reading.

When you make a connection you can

relate it to something you may have
experienced yourself, something you may
have read or watched, or something you
have heard about happening throughout
the world.

on it!
Don’t forget to include a goal, the ingredients, materials and
utensils, the steps in order and a conclusion.
MATHS
Learning Intention: I will explore place value to the tens of thousands and beyond

Why? To further develop my understanding of place value

Success Criteria:
- I can understand that each digit in a number is an important place holder.
- I can name and identify each of the places in a number
- I can write, record and say numbers to the tens of thousands and beyond.
Place Value
Place value is the value of each digit in a number. For example, the 5 in 350 represents
5 tens, or 50; however, the 5 in 5,006 represents 5 thousands, or 5,000. It is important
that children understand that whilst a digit can be the same, its value depends on
where it is in the number.
