UNDP is the UN’s global development network, an organization advocating

environment, deal with disasters and build resilience, establish strategic
partnerships; to improve the quality of life for all citizens.
Within the framework of a pilot country on the accelerated UN reform, UNDP
works with all other UN agencies in the country to support Mozambique
human development efforts. Thus we are part of the United Nations
Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF). We are working with the
Government of Mozambique, academia, civil society, private sector, and
other national and international partners to help find solutions to persistent
and emerging development challenges. We continue to provide policy
advisory and capacity development services, technical expertise, and
knowledge in areas of environment and energy, poverty reduction and
economic development, disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate
change, governance, human rights, women empowerment and HIV and
AIDS. Our overarching goal is to reduce poverty and disparities to improve
Assignment the lives of the most disadvantaged people in Mozambique. To achieve this,
context outcomes are formulated in three focus areas in which the United Nations
has a comparative advantage: the economic area, the social area, and
governance. In line with its mandate, UNDP contributes to six of the eight
UNDAF outcomes in the economic and governance focus areas,
complementing the contributions of other organizations. The UNDP Country
Office works in partnership with several implementing partners (IPs) from
Government, academia and NGOs. Its staffing is organized into two
complementary units: Programme and Operations. The Operations Unit
ensures the smooth operation and delivery of programme’s interventions.
The assigned national specialist UNV will be working within the Operations
Unit supporting UNDP to deliver its programme in the Information,
communication and technology Unit.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Information
Communications and Technology (ICT) Associate, the ICT Support Assistant
provides ICT and administrative support services to the ICT unit, provides
daily technical support to users of information management tools and
technology infrastructure. The UNV ICT Support Assistant promotes a client-
oriented approach. 1. Supports implementation of ICT management systems
and strategies, focusing on achievement of the following: Compliance with
corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines
and procedures for the Country Office (CO) technology environment.
Supports the use of UNDP in-house Enterprise Resource Planning (EPR)
functionality for improved business results and improved client service 2.
Supports the effective functioning of the CO hardware and software
packages, focusing on the achievement of the following results: Performance
Task of specific technical functions, including changing of hardware electronic
description components (disks, memories, network wiring, power sources, etc.) and
routine repairs. Assistance in the installation of commercial and in-house
developed software and related upgrades 3. Supports networks
administration, focusing on achievement of the following results: Assistance
in trouble-shooting and monitoring of network problems. Response to user
needs and questions regarding network access 4. Provides administrative
support, focusing on achievement of the following results: Maintenance of an
up-to-date inventory of software and hardware. Maintenance of a library of
ICT related reference materials. Maintenance of the inventory and stock of
supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the Procurement Unit. 5.
Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO,
focusing on achievement of the following results: Participation and
assistance in the organization of training for the CO staff on ICT issues.
Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
