SWOOD 2022 New features

This document is used to present the new features of SWOOD 2022, to define the
parameters of these features and finally to propose you a small exercise for each feature to
test it for real.

How this document works?

For each software (SWOOD Design, SWOOD CAM, SWOOD Nesting and SWOOD Report)
you can click on a bookmark, it will redirect you to the related feature chapter within this
document.

How to download an exercise package?

Inside a feature chapter, go to Exercise and click on the Link or on the icon .

How exercise packages work?

The exercise packages have different purposes:

- It automatically unzips the stored files (SWOODData, exercise files, …)

- It saves the actual SWOODData path
- It changes the SWOODData to the exercise one

The steps are:

1. Open the package already downloaded (in Download folder)

2. Click on the button to set the location where you need to unzip the package (it
could be in Document folder)

3. Click on it will make all the changes automatically

At the end of the exercise, don’t forget to reopen the package (.exe file) and click on
to restore the previous setup.

Maximum surface Surface in mm2
belongs to the type.
Maximum width at which the part still
Maximum width Width in mm
belongs to the type.

SWOOD Nesting – Optimal Holding

86/97
5

Tip: you can set a maximum surface and a maximum width (like the “Small” type
in the picture), in this case you will have two means of having the type.

You can set only one maximum (like the “Medium” type in the picture), in this case
you will have just one mean of having the type.

You can also set no type at all (like the “Large” type in the picture), it will select this
type for the part not fitting in any other types.

ii. Right section

For each part type you can set different strategies in order to optimize the part
hording onto the board.

Nesting: offset
Minimum distance from the edge of the board (made for small parts)

Offset of 100mm

Machining: Optimal lead in/out

Optimal position of the tool inlet/outlet to keep the part on the board as long as
possible.
