I. How to Enable
1. Directly on the connector feature
On the connector edition command, a check box is available on the Interference
group. (To define the default value, please contact your reseller)

3. In the SWOOD Design library , edit the SWOODBox “Holding Screws (hole +
chamfer)
4. In the SWOODBox feature manager , in the test mode pane , rebuild the
SWOODBox

5. Inside SWOODBox machining Definition panel , select the “Drilling with chamfer”
machining .
7. Go back to the SWOODBox Test mode panel and rebuild , you will see the
chamfered hole(s) you just configured.
This new feature has been created in order to improve the surface finishing during a
“Finishing 3D milling” operation.

I. Interface
1. To enable 5-axis optimization, simply click on the “Distribution not uniform” button on
the Finishing operation.
2. Next, enter a positive value in the textbox "minimal space between step”
Warning: from a certain minimum value, the trajectories are optimal. Setting a
lower value would only increase the computation time for an equivalent result.

6. On the operation window, select the cove cutter and add a “Finishing” operation
7. Try the 4 existing toolpaths with and without the new “Distribution not uniform” feature
8. After validating, you can right click on the “Milling” phase and select “Simulate RM”

1. Open the nesting assembly and create a new automatic contour operation

3. You will have a new option to optimize the cutting path by using the automatic
staydown contour operation
5. If you have another panel with tool path distance more than 90. The tool will jump to
create the global contour on this specific part like before
This new feature has been created to link machining between the machining library and parts
program phases. One of the advantages is that for linked machining, as soon as one of the
machining parameters is changed, the change will be applied in all the parts that have this
linked machining.
On the SWOODCAM Library (in the SolidWorks task pane), simply right click on an
existing machining and click “ Edit”
You have four areas in the “Machining library” window: The library edition toolbar, the
list of machinings, the operation(s) of the machining and the parameters.

You can filter the existing machinings with the filter bar
Right clicking on the “ Machining library” button, you can create folders in which
you can store the machinings.
In this area you can see the detail of the selected machining, but it depends if the type
of machining is regular (all machinings before SWOOD CAM 2022) or linked.

For the automatic machinings (both Regular and Linked) you have the “Recognition options”.
These options are also available on the milling phase when you right click on the machining.

You can see that all the holes are drilled with this drilling block (even the Ø35mm one)
Now you can see that all the holes are drilled except the Ø35mm one
Clicking on the tool tab → selecting “GCODE” tool library → selecting “Saw Ø300”
You can see that only the saws are available for choice for this operation
Now you can see that the groove operation is done by the “Saw Ø300”
Now you can see that both X and Y oriented grooves are milled

I. ToolTip
This new feature has been created to help the user understanding the different use
of the parameters available in the Nesting window.
By putting the mouse cursor over a nesting parameter, a tooltip which explains what
the parameter is about and the impact on the Nesting result.
This new feature has been created to help the user filtering the boards in their board’s
library, to find the one he wants to modify.
After editing the board library in the Nesting window , a search bar has been
added for the user to search for the wanted board.

I. How to use it
1. How to decompose a panel in the Nesting interface?
When a part is selected in the “Parts for nesting” folder, a new option “Use stocks” is
available.
The default Custom Property is ISSTOCK with a value 1. (To change the Custom
Property name or value to use, please contact your reseller)

With this default value (2), both options “Use stocks” and “Use outline extension

4. Rebuilt the Nesting, the nesting result is as below. 3 different colors are used (green,
blue and red) to represent the corresponding assemblies.
2. Click on the button “Show all types” . Different color identification can be selected in
this menu.
3. Click on the button “see assembly color” from the drop-down menu. The result is
as below, all the part color are defined based on different assemblies.
4. Moreover, the other same button on the top right side of the menu table helps to
check the part color corresponding to which source file (which assembly).

I. How to set up
When opening a new nesting project, some default parameters can be assigned.

This option can be enabled in general settings as well as in the manual nesting to replace
part name by the value of the custom property defined.
To do so, simply add the following lines in the SWOODCAM.cfg file at the [LINK_FILE] section
and just assign the wanted values replacing the text in orange.

11. A “Visual Options” window appears. Use the checkbox to control which information
should be displayed.
On the example provided when using “Use custom property name” the custom
property NUM_PANEL_EXT is displayed

This new feature has been created to allow CNC owners equipped with automatic label
positioning system, to edit, visualize and reposition the labels of each part, directly into the
Nesting window.
I. Interface
1. Labeling parameters (in Parameters section)
To enable the labeling function, check the enable box , then the other parameters
will appear.
Once you have entered your label settings, click on the rebuild button to see the
labels placed over the nested parts on the “Result section”.
Tip: It is possible to change all the default label parameters. To do so, please
contact your SWOOD reseller.

Then after checking the "Manual Nesting" box, simply move the label on the part to
the desired location.
When you click on the rebuild button , you will see all the copies of the modified
part with the previously placed label.

6. Enable Labeling
• Click on the Labeling Enable checkbox on the Nesting projects parameters
• Rebuild the Nesting (without changing the other Labeling parameters)
The blue parts labels have moved to the center of each part
The yellow parts labels have moved as close to the center as possible, avoiding the cut-out
area of the part.
The blue part labels have moved to the opposite corner of the offset value.
The yellow part labels could not move by the offset value because of the cut-out area of the
part. That's why they stayed in their original place.

All parts impacted by manual labeling have taken the position of the latter.

3. Verify in the board library containing “HARDWOOD OAK 19mm”. If not, create a
new board with enough quantity (ex.10), using the SWOOD material HARDWOOD
Oak 19mm.
4. Open the Nesting and activate all the part . Launch the rebuild.
5. Click on the “Automatic machining insertion” button , which helps to configure the
automatic insertion of machining in nesting sheets.
6. Choose the GCODE post-processor and then select the previous saved machining
entities in the nesting machining library as follows.
7. Validate the Nesting program setting, and a new program sheet will be generated with
the following program tree. This new nesting program sheet should contain the
machining entities which have been selected in the Nesting “Automatic machining
insertion” windows.
8. Reopen the package (Exercise Package of Nesting 2022.exe file) and click on
to restore the previous setup.
I. How to set up
1. Part Type edition
Four areas are available in the “Part Types” window: The library edition toolbar, the
list of part type rules, the Global configuration and the Part type configuration.

In this area you can see all the existing Part Type rules. You can rearrange the Part
Type rules order with a drag & drop.
By right clicking onto a Part Type rule, you can do the following actions:

i. Left section
In this section you can create several part types. The types are declared with:
Tip: you can set a maximum surface and a maximum width (like the “Small” type
in the picture), in this case you will have two means of having the type.
You can set only one maximum (like the “Medium” type in the picture), in this case
you will have just one mean of having the type.
You can also set no type at all (like the “Large” type in the picture), it will select this
type for the part not fitting in any other types.
For each part type you can set different strategies in order to optimize the part
hording onto the board.
Nesting: offset
Minimum distance from the edge of the board (made for small parts)

Once you have selected “Edge” as bridge type, click on the pen icon to edit the bridge
rules.
You can now create a new rule entering the name and its extreme measurements.
Once done you just have to click along the top edge to set the bridge position (in
percentage) and offset (in mm).

If you selected the “contour” bridge type, you only have to set the interval in the
“Length” parameter.

checkbox is grayed out
The reason is that no strategy has been saved in the “Parts types” library.
