MARK 10:43-44
Whoever wishes to be great
among you will be your servant;
Whoever wishes to be first
among you will be the slave of all

IT IS THE KIND OF
SERVANTHOOD THAT IS
MARKED BY:
love
A leader must have a shepherd heart, a
tender, compassionate love for the people
entrusted under her care. The care of the
flock is her first concern. She should
remember that people matter most. She
should exercise patience, most especially
with the weaknesses of others. She should
remember our Lord's patience with the
doubting Thomas, the impulsive and
cowardly Peter, the cranky Martha, and
many others. With love, a leader is able to
bring out the best in others.
HUMILITY
A leader should learn to stoop down low
to serve, remembering that her duty is to
minister to others and not vice versa. She
should be self-effacing, not looking for
recognition, admiration or appreciation
for the things she does. She is submissive
not only to God but to the leaders the
Lord has placed on top of her
2 TIM 2:2
And what you heard from
me through many witnesses
entrust to faithful
people who will have the
ability to teach others
as well
INTEGRITY
She is sincere and honest in
words and keeps her promises.
She is faithful in discharging her
duties and loyal in service. She
is above board when it comes to
finances.
OPENNESS TO LEARNING
NEW THINGS

She responds positively to

new ways of doing things,
herself always trying to
find means of improving
service.

ADMINIS T R A T I V E
ABILTY

She should reflect the orderliness of God in

her service. She should be open to learning
planning, organizational, monitoring and
reporting skills that are important for
translating the community's mission and
vision into reality.
EXCELLENCE THROUGH
HARD WORK

She has to rise early and work

late. Laziness has no place in
service. We are told that fatigue
is the price of leadership.
Mediocrity is the result of never
getting tired. But leaders know
where to find rest - in Jesus
Himself. He is the source of living
water. He refreshes,
reinvigorates, and reenergizes
us.
OPTIMISM,
JOY,SENSE OF HUMOR
A leader does not have a critical,
complaining and sullen attitude. Instead
she has an optimism that comes from
trusting God. Whatever the present
situation is, a leader is confident of the
future, of God's victory. Service is a
source of joy for her and she has the
ability to see things in perspective, to
laugh at herself and circumstances.
