1-2. The X-ray Room Survey

For a more smooth installation of the instruments, a preliminary survey should be made by visiting the
hospital or the clinic and observing the following checkpoints, before installing these items.

1-2-1. Dimensions of the X-ray room

- The X-ray room's length, width and height should not inhibit the patient's traffic line.

1-2-2. Distance between the wall's FPD and the control box
- This distance should be measured based on the length of the cable to be laid, not the lineal distance
between the wall's flat-panel detector (FPD) and the control box (default value: 10 meters).
IS560 : Available in two versions, the Standard (10 meters) and the Option (7 meters).
IS760 : Available in one version only, the Standard (10 meters).
- A repeater and an extension cable (7 meters in length) are required if the distance between the wall
FPD and the control box is over 10 meters and shorter than or equal to 17 meters.

LVDS communication problem will occur if the distance is longer than 17 meters.
WARNING

1-2-3. Distance between the table FPD and the control box
- This distance should be measured based on the length of the cable to be laid, not the lineal distance
between the table FPD and the control box (default value: 10 meters).
IS560 : Available in two versions, the Standard (10 meters) and the Option(7 meters).
IS760 : Available in one version only, the Standard (10 meters).
- A repeater is required if the distance between the table FPD and the control box is over 10 meters and
shorter than or equal to 17 meters.

LVDS communication problem will occur if the distance is longer than 17 meters.
WARNING

1-2-4. Distance between the FPD and the generator

- Check whether there is any interference due to high voltage, by checking the distance between the FPD
and the generator.
(Unlike in computed radiography (CR), noise may occur in the images if the generator creates high-
voltage interference in digital radiography (DR). This may break the synchronization.)

The distance between the FPD and the generator should maintain at least 1.83 meters.
CAUΤΙΟΝ

1-2-5. Air conditioner

- High temperatures in summer and low temperatures in winter may cause damage to the FPD.
- The temperature around the FPD must be kept at room temperature.
- Operation temperature range : 5 ~ 35
- Storage temperature range : 0 ~ 40

It should be noted that the user will be held responsible for any damage that may result from
CAUΤΙΟΝ
operating or storing the FPD at temperatures outside the above range

FPD : Flat Panel Detector

www.drtech.co.kr 05
06

1-2-6. Dehumidifier
- High humidity levels during the rainy season may cause damage to the FPD.
- Operation humidity range : 20 ~ 75% RH (non-condensed)
- Storage humidity : 5 ~ 95% RH (non-condensed)

It should be noted that operating or storing the FPD at humidity levels outside the above ranges
WARNING
may shorten its lifetime and cause failure.

1-2-7. Cleanness
- Dust or foreign substances may cause malfunction of the bucky or artifact defects in the FPD.
- The FPD should be cleaned regularly.

1-2-8. Earth connection terminals

- To prevent power noise that may occasionally occur, it is necessary to connect the FPD system with the
earth terminal.

1-3. Survey for X-ray Equipment

For a more smooth installation of the instruments, a preliminary survey should be made by visiting
the hospital or the clinic and observing the following checkpoints, before installing these items.

1-3-1. Grid
- Fixed Bucky : FG14(for F560), FG17(for F760)
- Spring Bucky : It is available from 71 ~ 103 lines per inch, 103 lines per inch recommended
- Stepping motor : 200 or above lines per inch recommended
- CAM motor : Not recommended (Unlike computed radiography images (CR), digital radiography images
(DR) can express elaborate grid patterns. Also, since CAM motors do not move in parallel with the
FPD, it is highly likely that grid patterns will occur

In case of the CAM motor, first, apply the Grid Filter Algorism. When you install the FPD
system, prepare the FG14 or FG17 for eventuality.
NOTE - The SID (focal distance) should be used in accordance with the operating environment.

1-3-2. Bucky Operation

- The operation mechanism should have no problem when using the spring, the CAM motor or the
stepping motor type bucky
- Suitable grids should be used for each operation type
- The speed, movement and vibration types should be checked

- The grid should be moving during X-ray exposure checks

- DR Tech's fixed grid should be used if the current grid does not move in accordance with
CAUΤΙΟΝ the applicable conditions

1-3-3. Bucky circumstance

- Check whether any transformers, etc. are present around the FPD.
- Noise may occur in the images by magnetic or electric fields.

A shield is required if there are parts that generate magnetic or electric noise from the
CAUΤΙΟΝ
outside.

For example

- When Grid Pattern occurs even when Moving is good and Grid Filter is applied, change of Grid is
recommended.
- When Bucky does not function occasionally
- When Grid Line Resolution is too low (below 71 Lines/inch).
- When Moving is good : 71~103 Lines/inch may be used and 103 Lines/inch is recommended
- When Moving is poor : FG14 or FG17 is recommended

B. When using Grid of Stepping Motor Type

- When Grid Pattern occurs even when Moving is good and Grid Filter is applied, change of Grid is
recommended.
- When Moving does not function occasionally
- When Grid Line Resolution is too low (below 150 Lines/inch)
- When Moving is good : Grid with 200 or above Lines/inch is recommended
- When Moving is poor : FG14 or FG17 is recommended

C. When using Grid of CAM Motor Type

- Usually change is recommended when Grid does not move in parallel to FPD.
- First, set the Grid by executing Caliview during installation, then check whether Grid Pattern occurs by
getting an X-ray Image to decide if change is necessary.
- When Grid pattern occurs, change to FG14 or FG17.

D. Fixed Type
- Only FG14 and FG17 provided by DRTECH may be used.
- Regarding Filter file, there are current filter file on the C: Caliview Filter folder

3-2-4. Configuration methods for different

medical image monitors
This section explains how you can create same settings on different monitors.

Why create same settings on different monitors

After obtaining the initial set of images, they are modified, edited, and transmitted to the picture archiving
and communication system (PACS). Since these images are displayed on different media, this may have
negative effects on accurate diagnosis.

Configuration methods for different monitors

1. Diagnostic monitor (resolution: 3 megapixels or above) - basic monitor
Since diagnostic monitors use their own periodical correction functions, no modification will be required. For
this reason, the brightness, contrast and color of the monitor that has first obtained the images should be
modified in accordance with the diagnostic monitor.

The basic procedure

Modification Verification Verification

Acquiring
PACS Viewer Monitor in the
initial images by Diagnostic monitor
Monitor doctor’s office
the first monitor

After obtaining and transmitting the initial set of images, follow the phased verification
process and check the monitor in the doctor’s office. Then, if the images need
modifying, re-verify them by adjusting their brightness and contrast levels. If the
NOTE
images need to be further modified, it is also desirable to use the monitor’s OSD menu.

2. Ordinary low-cost monitors

It is best to select a standard monitor since various LCD monitors made by different manufacturers are
being used. It is recommended that the images from the monitor first obtaining these images are transmitted
to monitors used as the PACS viewers, and then the differences between the images obtained by all the
monitors should be compared and modified.

After obtaining the initial set of images, transmit them to the PACS viewer’s monitor,
compare the transmitted images. Then, make necessary modification on them.
NOTE

If you have created the same settings between the first monitor, diagnostic monitor and the PACS viewer
monitor but they display images with different qualities, please request a calibration to your PACS manufacturer
