Greetings parents and guardians,

I have attached an infographic to this letter that will be given to my students about

“Digital Friendships”. The school has decided to institute a “Bring Your Own Device Policy”

meaning that students will be allowed to use their devices in the classroom. This will allow the

students access to the internet to complete homework, projects, and assessments. Due to the

increased presence on the internet, I think it is important to educate my students on digital

citizenship. As a “digital citizen” students will be expected to use technology appropriately and

safely while also knowing how to navigate the internet and what sites are safe and appropriate to

use. While knowing how to navigate the internet is important, I have chosen the topic of online

friendships to share this infographic on. I believe it is crucial that our students practice online

safety and learn what it means to have friendships, and meet people, online. Within the

infographic you will find helpful tips for the student as well as how you can be involved while

the student starts to use more and more of the internet. I believe that if parents/guardians work as

team the students will be safe and only the best can come from this new policy!

Saludos padres y tutores,

Adjunto a esta carta una infografía que se entregará a mis alumnos sobre “Amistades

digitales”. La escuela ha decidido instituir una "Política de traer su propio dispositivo", lo que

significa que los estudiantes podrán usar sus dispositivos en el salón de clases. Esto permitirá que

los estudiantes accedan a Internet para completar tareas, proyectos y evaluaciones. Debido a la

mayor presencia en Internet, creo que es importante educar a mis alumnos sobre la ciudadanía

digital. Como "ciudadano digital", se espera que los estudiantes usen la tecnología de manera

adecuada y segura, al mismo tiempo que saben cómo navegar por Internet y qué sitios son

seguros y apropiados para usar. Si bien saber cómo navegar en Internet es importante, he elegido

el tema de las amistades en línea para compartir esta infografía. Creo que es crucial que nuestros

estudiantes practiquen la seguridad en línea y aprendan lo que significa tener amistades y

conocer gente en línea. Dentro de la infografía, encontrará consejos útiles para el estudiante y

cómo puede participar mientras el estudiante comienza a usar más y más Internet. ¡Creo que si

los padres/tutores trabajan en equipo, los estudiantes estarán seguros y solo lo mejor puede salir

de esta nueva política!
