Instructions

Prepare a family home evening lesson on intimacy for your current or future family. (If you are
writing for a future family, please create a spouse and children that will fulfill the outlined
responsibilities in the lesson plan template. Identify the age of the children.)

Template

Objective: The objective of the lesson is to teach my 3-year-old daughter and 1 year old son
about their bodies and to respect themselves. We will help them to understand that they are
children of God, and that Heavenly Father has given us our bodies to help us learn and grow in
this world. We will sing songs that teach about our bodies and what Heavenly Father has given
us. We will also discuss the importance of our bodies and why we are here on earth. The
desired outcomes are that my 3-year-old can understand that she is a child of God and that her
body was made just for her.

Family Business: Nothing specific for the children but my husband and I will probably discuss
finances and other challenges in the home.

Opening Song: My Heavenly Father Loves Me, Children’s Songbook #228.

Opening Prayer: My husband Tyrel will help Connie say the prayer.

Scripture: Genesis 1:27. I will read the scripture.

Lesson:

- We will talk about the scripture and how Heavenly Father created our bodies.
- Talk about the opening song and how blessed we are to have our different body parts.
- Show the video called My Body from CoComelon https://youtu.be/yRNXfe9-aWo
- Use a Mr. Potato Head toy and talk about the different body parts and what their
functions are.
 - Activity: Let Connie and Carson play with the Mr. Potato head and ask if Connie can
name the different body parts.
- Wiggle song: My Hands, Children’s Songbook #273
- Talk about our hands and why they are important.
- Teach Connie that everyone is different. Some people are short, and some are tall. Some
have darker color skin and others have lighter colored skin.
- Teach her that Heavenly Father loves all His children no matter what they look like.
- Dessert: Decorate gingerbread men after the closing song and prayer.
