organ donation suitability based on set criteria

as real time/ clinical level where they work with a trainer and an Emergency Department provider
to familiarize themselves with the system and flow of the hospital

Tucson Marine Phage Laboratory August 2013 – May 2015

● Decay project will look at host-species interactions in terms of competition and resource
partitioning.
● Participate in the beta trials of the experiment then do polymerase chain reaction on plaques of
the actual experiment.
● Look for new viruses that infect the host bacteria, HTCC 1062, through a method called "viral
tagging"
● Perform several molecular methods: polymerase chain reaction (PCR), gel electrophoresis,
extraction of DNA, cloning of DNA into a plasmid vector as well as other methods that are used in
the Tucson Marine Phage Laboratory for obtaining and detecting ocean bacteriophage.
● Students expected to submit bi-weekly annotated journal review articles, as well as attend lab
meetings.

● Construct, maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, titrators,
pipetting machines and pH meters. Ensure the laboratory is well stocked and resourced.

include experiments such as one-step reactions, working with and isolating ocean samples.

patients. Responsibilities include documenting the history of present illness, review of systems,
physical exam, medical decision-making and discussion in the patient’s electronic medical record
chart.
● Required to undergo training for EMR, have extensive knowledge of medical terminology and
electronic charting system, EPIC.

Extracurricular Activities
VIDA Volunteer January 2015 – May 2015

● Undergraduate club for pre-medical, pre-dental, and pre-veterinary students.
● In the summer of 2015, students from the University of Arizona will travel to impoverished areas
of Nicaragua and Costa Rica to provide free medical, dental, and veterinary services. Over 100
hours of direct patient care was performed in the 2 weeks.

Global Medical Brigades August 2013 – May 2015

● Undergraduate club for pre-medical, pre-dental, and pre-pharmacy students.
● On spring break of 2014, our club went on a medical brigade to the community La Martillada in
Panama. There we sent up a free medical clinic and provided care to the impoverished
community. The club also provided dental care and gave out medications. End goal is to teach
sustainability in the communities. 48 hours of patient care was provided in the week.

manikin with Macintosh and laryngoscope and perform laparoscopic activities, as well as
anthropogenic activities.

Volunteer Tucson, AZ
● For 50 hours: volunteer at ICU/ surgery desk. Informed patients’ family members of their status
of surgery. Was the liaison between family members and the nurses in the PACU as well as
nurses in the ICU. Walked family members back to the ICU or PACU when visits were permitted.
● For the rest of the time: volunteer in the PACU. Saw patients after their surgeries and observed
them while they were waking up from being under anesthesia. Took vital signs, got blankets,
printed EKG strips, refilled patient stations with necessary materials, etc.
