How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:
☒ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
After learning the given material about the national holidays, I will explain our activity that we will
be doing in class. I will tell students their goals and show them my example of the podcast. I explain
to them that they will be creating their own podcast after making their story board. The storyboard
will guide them in their recordings. I will be walking around making sure students understand the

activity and are staying on task. I will also be checking their storyboards as they complete them
before allowing them to record their podcast. When students finish their recordings, they will need
to turn them in. I will conclude this lesson by having students share their podcasts with the class if
they want to, but it is not required.
Managing student learning:
Students will begin the lesson by passive learning from receiving and internalizing information given
from the teacher. They will absorb the given material and then shift to active social learners by
analyzing and applying their knowledge to creating a podcast. Before recording their podcast,
students will first need to create a plan as to what they will say in their audio. I will give them a
storyboard to fill out and complete. I will go over it before allowing them to create their podcast.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:
This tool supports multiple means of representation of the UDL framework by having students
present information in a different way. They not only have to create a storyboard for their plan, but
they also have to create a podcast. Students are able to create a plan and record a podcast to show
their knowledge. All students are supported through the audio and transcripts. Podcast offer a
unique, fun, and engaging way of relaying students’ information.
Reflection:
I feel the activities given with this lesson will impact student learning by allowing students to be
creative. This activity offers students to use their own voice in showing what they’ve learned from
the unit. With this given lesson, I look forward to listening to my student’s podcast. It will be
interesting to see how each student relays the same information, but in their own ways.
