Particularly in the process of growing both persons and society, education is of the
greatest importance. As a matter of fact, Nelson Mandela (1990) said that "knowledge is the
most potent weapon which you can employ to change the world." We receive knowledge through
education that has the power to either help society survive or bring about its fall. Our ancestors
ultimately obtained the independence they had been fighting for with the help of education,
according to Ambeth Ocampo's article "Literacy and Independence." As a direct result of his
education, Dr. Jose Rizal was able to learn the knowledge that he used to help others.

The Filipino people may have been colonized, but learning allowed them to escape that
burden, allowing them to inform of the reality of their culture. He was able to ignite a fire in the
people's hearts, motivating them to stand up for themselves and fight for independence. Rizal
wasn't the only one of our heroes who is literate, which shouldn't be a surprise. As a member of
this group, Andres Bonifacio made use of his education to support his fight against those who
mistreated him. Emilio Aguinaldo was one of the supporters of the Rizal law who insisted on
reading Rizal's novels, despite the fact that he is illiterate. Education opened the door to the
possibility of transformation.

Conquerors may gain control of a place because they have planned carefully before,
researched the best strategies to utilize, and used the practical information they have learned via
research efficiently. In reality, Ocampo's opinion states that although not available on
newsstands, publications and other reading material unfavorable of Marcos were nonetheless
able to find their way into the hands of the citizens throughout the period of Martial Law. Even
though the publication of these materials was prohibited, this was the situation.

Education could be a good advantage when it comes to self-defense. It produces skills

that could be applied in the battle against social injustices, corruption, violence, and other
potentially negative societal traits. It serves as a motivating factor for people to look for
innovative approaches, and when these ideas are put into practice, people are able to contribute
to the expansion of the world.
