1 • We are aware of the consequences of whatever changes we want to bring but are
we equipped with sufficient resources to handle them.
• Culture/Ethics and Philosophy/Spirituality is the areas where there is the need to
change in respect to livelihood strategies.
• Livelihood strategies should be value centric and transition to a better system
should be incorporated
• Vulnerabilities is the major threat that every livelihood encounter
• Sustainable use of natural resources, improved food security, more income and
improved well being are the outcomes of the sustainable livelihoods.
Critical Reflection on the theme/talk(s) (Maximum 100 words)

The critical reflection on the theme is every livelihood options needs to be addressing the carbon
emission. Huge carbon emission is one the factor causing degradation of the environment on everyday
basis. Carbon emission has to be rooted in nature based solutions and it should not be a cause for
further biodiversity losses. It has to be value driven and transition to a better system is being
incorporated so that it is adding value to every form of livelihood. The old system, practices and habits
needs to be discarded in the livelihood design so that new system can be incorporated with huge
benefits to the people.

Learning for Rural Management as a Discipline (Maximum 50 words)
The major learning for Rural Management is the five pentagon of the livelihood framework helps in
maintaining balance the sustainability. The vulnerabilities should be addressed sooner to address the
livelihood issues and biodiversity losses. The beneficiaries should be directly involved in policy
making process and technology should be used for developing innovative solutions so that balance in
biodiversity can be maintained.
