IV. Procedure Inductive Method

Teachers Activity Pupils Activity

A. Daily Routine
Good morning class! Good morning ma’am!

Let us start our class with the guidance of

our Lord.
(prayer).
Ms. ___ kindly lead the prayer

Before taking your seats see to it that your (the students do as told)
chair are properly align and pick those
pieces of paper under them.

You may now take your seats

Class secretary, may you check the None ma’am

attendance. Is there anyone absent today?

Very good keep up the good work.

B. Motivation
Let me share you something. I have travelled
all along the Palawan Philippines to find for
my treasure and finally here it is. I want to
share you my treasure but with one Yes ma’am
condition. Help me finish task so that we can
able to open the treasure box. Do you want
to help me class?

Alright, we have here a table help me

answer what is flash on the screen to Yes ma’am
complete our table. so that we can open our
treasure box. Is that alright to you class?

Now let’s begin

(the class will do the task)

C. Presentation of the Lesson

Since we already complete the table we can (representative of the class will open the treasure)
open now our treasure box. Any
representative of the class may come and
open it.

Now class what phrase has revealed in our

treasure box? Arithmetic sequence

That’s right and be with me this morning as

we are going to discuss the arithmetic
sequence.

D. Development of the Lesson

We have here the definition of arithmetic An arithmetic sequence is sequence where every
sequence. Kindly read Ms. ___ term after the first is obtained by adding a constant
called the common difference.
Is the meaning of arithmetic sequence clear
to you class? Yes ma’am

For further understanding, let’s take a look

to the result of our activity a while ago. The number of matchsticks increase by 3 as we add
What do you observe on the number of another square.
matchsticks?

Great observation!
Yes ma’am
Suppose we want to find the number of
matchsticks of 20 square. Do you think a
formula would help us find it class?

Great!

Now we need to formulate a formula so that

we can easily find the number of Four ma’am
matchsticks of 20 squares. First, let’s rewrite
each term on how we obtain the second,
third, fourth, and fifth terms. What is our
first term class?
That’s right
Now, what will add to the second term?
Three ma’am
Brilliant!

Which is our second term will be 4+3. How

about our third term, how many 3’s will we
We will add two 3’s ma’am
add?

Very Good!
Which is are third term will be 4+3+3 right? Yes ma’am

Okay now who wants to complete up to fifth

term? a 4=4+3+ 3+3
Yes Mr.____ a 5=4 +3+3+3+ 3

Excellent!

Now we will study each terms and rewrite it

in another form. Our first term is 4+0(3), we Yes ma’am
multiplied into 0 since we don’t have 3 to
add in our first term then for our second
term 4+1(3) since we added 3 once on the
first term am I right class?

Now who wants to write for the third term?

Yes Ms. __
4+2(3)
Amazing!

How about the fourth and fifth term? Yes

Ms. ___ 4+3(3), 4+4(3)

Excellent!

Now we can already determine the number

of matchsticks needed to form n square. Will a n=a1 + ( n−1 ) d
you read the formula class? a 1 is the first term
d isthe common difference
n is thenumber of terms
a n is the nthterm
Thank You!

Now let’s check from our table. We let 4 as

a 1which is the first term, n which is the
number of terms and subtracted by 1 to get Yes ma’am
the 1 and we let 3 as d as the common
difference. Did you get it class?

Now we can find already of how many

numbers of matchsticks in 20 squares. We
will now use the formula a n=a1 + ( n−1 ) d to a 20 =4 + ( 20−1 ) 3
find it. Who wants to substitute our given in
the formula? Yes Mr.__

Very Good! who wants to solve it? Yes Ms.

___
a 20 =4 + ( 19 ) 3=4 +57=61
Very Good!
We can now conclude that we need 61
matchsticks to form 20 squares. Did you get
it class?
Yes ma’am
For further understanding lets have another
example. Will you read it? Yes Mr. ____
What is the 10th term of the arithmetic sequence 5,
Thank you 12, 19, 26,………….. ?
Now what is the first term of our sequence?

Very good who wants to give me the 5 ma’am

common difference? Yes Mr. ____
7 ma’am
Exactly
Now who wants to solve on the board? Yes
Ms. ___
a n=a1 + ( n−1 ) d
Precisely! a 20=5+ ( 10−1 ) 7=5+9 ( 7 )=5+ 54=59
And the value of 10th term in our sequence is
59. Did you follow class?

Yes ma’am
Seems like you already understand on how
to solve arithmetic sequence. Lets have an
activity.

E. Application
To test if you understand our topic lets have
a game entitled answer me. So here are the
mechanics;
1. The class will be divided into 4 groups.
2. Representative of each group will come
at front and get their materials for the
game.
3. The teacher will give an arithmetic
sequence on the screen and answer
what is ask on it.
4. The first group who raise their board
first and get the correct answer will get
a point.
5. The group who will get the highest
points will be the winner.
Is the instruction clear to you class?

Okay you may now start

Yes ma’am
Base on the outcome on your work seems
(activity done)
like you learned a lot on our topic.

F. Valuing
Sequence of Relationship
God – you – family
Love Love

Base on this sequence of relationship how

can you relate this to a real life situation. Yes
Mr. ____
Love is the one to complete in every relationship.
That’s true Without love there is no any kind of relationship.
We have here the sequence of relationship
which is God, You and Family and their
common difference is love. Why love? Love
is the strongest force, God created us
because he love us and we have a family
who cares us because they love us so we
need to love them back as they love you
with all their heart.

G. Generalization
To sum up what we have tackled for today.
Who wants to give me the definition of
arithmetic sequence? Yes Mr. ___ An arithmetic sequence is a sequence where every
term after the first is obtained by adding a constant
Very good! called the common difference.
And who wants to give me the formula of
arithmetic sequence in finding the nth term?
a n=a1 + ( n−1 ) d
Excellent! You did master our lesson for
today.

IV. Evaluation
To test your understanding on our topic. Bring out
one whole sheet of paper and answer the following.
1. Find the 6th term of the arithmetic sequence
1, 0, -1, -2, -3…
2. Using the formula, which term of the
arithmetic sequence is -18, given that
a 1=7∧a2=2 ?
3. Find the 9th term of the arithmetic sequence
1
a 1=10∧d=
2
4. What is the 15th term of the arithmetic
sequence 2, 4, 6, 8…?
5. The third term of the sequence is 16 and
fourth term is 20. What is the first term?

V. Assignment
For your home delight, bring out your notes and
copy what is on the screen to be check tomorrow
1. Give the definition of arithmetic mean.
2. Find the arithmetic means between 5 and
25.

That’s for today goodbye class.

Goodbye ma’am
